Before we begin this afternoon, our own Tim Salmons has turned in another Pick-Ups Blu-ray review for you to check out, this time featuring a look at Synapse Films' Steelbook release of Dario Argento’s Tenebrae (1982). Do check that out here.
All right, the big news today is that Paramount has just officially announced the 6/7 release of the Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan – Director’s Edition on Blu-ray (as we first revealed here on The Digital Bits a few weeks ago). The film itself has been remastered from a new 4K scan, with the participation of director Nicholas Meyer, and will be included on the disc in 1080p in both the original theatrical cut and the slightly longer Director’s Cut, each with 7.1 Dolby TrueHD audio. We’ll be back with more reviews next week, including my in-depth take of Fox’s new The X-Files: The Complete Series Blu-ray box set, which the little green men of UPS have just dropped off on my doorstep. So be sure to watch for that. [Read on here…]

All right, today’s Halloween Hangover review from Tim is a look at the Region B release of Killer Klowns from Outer Space on Blu-ray from Arrow Video in the UK. That’s an old favorite of ours here at The Bits and it sounds like the disc improves on MGM’s US Blu- ray release a good deal. Do check it out.
Also today, we’re highlighting Michael Coate’s look back at Back to the Future on this the semi-official “Back to the Future Day” on the Internet (a.k.a., the day in the future Marty visits in the film). Everybody start hydrating your pizzas and drinking Pepsi Free. [Read on here…]

Blu-ray News – An update on Fox's The X-Files: The Complete Series Blu-ray extras
[Editor’s Note: Be sure to like TheDigitalBits.com page on Facebook for breaking news, site updates on the go, discussion with our staff and other readers, giveaways and more!]
All right, I’ve got good news for you X-Files fans. When Fox announced the Blu-ray release of The X-Files: The Complete Series last week, we posted their complete press release here on The Bits including details about the extras the set will offer. Based on that list, it was clear that all of the Mythology Collection DVD extras would be included, but sharp-eyed fans noticed that some items from the previous individual season DVD releases weren’t listed. Thus, nervous fans began to e-mail us worrying that not everything would carry over to Blu-ray. [Read on here…]
Blu-ray News – NOW it’s official: The X-Files: The Complete Series is coming to Blu-ray on 12/8 (with specs)!
[Editor’s Note: Be sure to like TheDigitalBits.com page on Facebook for breaking news, site updates on the go, discussion with our staff and other readers, giveaways and more!]
As expected, Fox’s The X-Files: The Complete Series Blu-ray has been officially announced and is now back up on Fox Connect and open for pre-orders. As we reported before, SRP is $299 and street date is 12/8. But just for New York Comic-Con weekend, the price has been lowered to just $150! Now, if you order through Fox Connect, we don’t get the Amazon affiliate support… but then we’d never advise anyone NOT to take a deal that good. Our guess is that next week (post Con) it will be up for pre-order on Amazon for something in the $200-$270 range, and then it will be discounted a bit around Black Friday week. And we finally have specs! [Read on here…]
Blu-ray News – Fear the Walking Dead: S1, Game of Thrones: S5 cover art & more
[Editor’s Note: Be sure to like TheDigitalBits.com page on Facebook for breaking news, site updates on the go, discussion with our staff and other readers, giveaways and more!]
All right, as we wait for official X-Files Blu-ray news from Fox, our own Tim Salmons has just posted today’s Halloween Hangover Blu-ray review – a look at the James Clark’s Madhouse (1974), starring Vincent Price. The film is now available from Kino Lorber.
Speaking of The X-Files, there’s been no official announcement yet today, but New York Comic-Con starts tomorrow, so it’s very likely that an official announcement will be by the end of the weekend. It’s even possible that Fox will be taking pre-orders for the set this weekend tied to the Con (they frequently do at San Diego Comic-Con. So we should know more very soon. [Read on here…]
Blu-ray News – Here’s the official cover artwork for Fox’s The X-Files: The Complete Series on Blu-ray
[Editor’s Note: Be sure to like TheDigitalBits.com page on Facebook for breaking news, site updates on the go, discussion with our staff and other readers, giveaways and more!]
Well… we’ve waited a long time for The X-Files: The Complete Series to be released on Blu-ray. It’s been nearly three full years in fact since we first reported in The Rumor Mill here that the project was being remastered in HD for an eventual BD release. And here it finally is… almost! Fox Connect briefly revealed the cover art yesterday (see below), the SRP ($225 USD), and the street date (12/8). BUT… then they immediately pulled it down again. We would guess this means that the official announcement is imminent. So stay tuned for that. In the meantime, here’s what the packaging is going to look like… [Read on here…]
