As expected, Fox’s The X-Files: The Complete Series Blu-ray has been officially announced and is now back up on Fox Connect and open for pre-orders. As we reported before, SRP is $299 and street date is 12/8. But just for New York Comic-Con weekend, the price has been lowered to just $150! Now, if you order through Fox Connect, we don’t get the Amazon affiliate support… but then we’d never advise anyone NOT to take a deal that good. Our guess is that next week (post Con) it will be up for pre-order on Amazon for something in the $200-$270 range, and then it will be discounted a bit around Black Friday week. And we finally have specs! [Read on here…]

In any case, here’s another new picture of the open packaging. As you can see it appears that the outer box is a slipcase that encloses 9 regular Blu-ray style packages, one for each season. It can be ordered at Fox Connect, at www.x-filesblu-ray.com or (eventually) on Amazon)…

The X-Files: The Complete Series (Blu-ray Disc)

The set will include all nine seasons – all 202 episodes – and will have a slot in the box for the upcoming 6-episode X-Files miniseries (due to run on Fox in January). The video for all episodes will be 1.78:1 widescreen, with audio in English 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio format (with Spanish and French Dolby Digital 2.0, and subtitles in English SDH, French and Spanish). You’ll also get 23 hours worth of extras, including…

I’ve also posted my in-depth Blu-ray review of Universal’s newly-improved Spartacus: Restored Edition, which is well worth your time, attention, and money (just $15 to upgrade on Amazon). Enjoy!
