Frankenstein: Legacy & Hannibal: Complete Series win Saturn Awards, plus new Universal 4K titles
The 43rd Annual Saturn Awards were held last night in Burbank, California, and we got the list of winners for you today. More on that in a moment.
First though, Tim has turned in a look at George Bowers’ horror film The Hearse (1980) on Blu-ray, newly released by Vinegar Syndrome.
Also, in a brief bit of announcement news, Universal Studios Home Entertainment has just set unveiled a big slate of catalog 4K Ultra HD titles due for release in September. On 9/5, Minions will arrive on the format, followed on 9/12 by Jordan Peel’s Get Out , single-film 4K editions of The Mummy (1999) and The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, M. Night Shyamalan’s Split, The Purge: Three-Movie Collection, Van Helsing, and Dracula Untold. We’ll post additional details and cover artwork as soon as its available. [Read on here…]

Pick-Ups for the Week of October 10, 2016
Welcome to a new edition of Pick-Ups!
Whew. Lemme tell ya. I love Halloween, but it wears me out every year. There’s so much going on, including tons of reviews for the site, that it’s difficult to keep track of it all and still be standing at the end of the day. And unfortunately, I wasn’t able to attend the Young Frankenstein screening that I mentioned last week as it was sold out, but I may or may not try to attend the encore presentation of it. We’ll see.
Also, I mentioned last week that Turner Classic Movies is showing a ton of great horror movies this month, but you may also want to check out IFC’s schedule. They have some great old B-movie from the 1950s and 1960s that they’re airing regularly, every morning. Definitely something worth putting on while having your coffee if you’re a horror fan.

Scream’s Exorcist III details, plus Sea of Trees, Creepshow 2 from Arrow, new Kino Classics & more
Just a quick update for you today, as we’re working on new Blu-ray and 4K UHD reviews for you...
First up, Scream Factory has just announced the list of extras you’ll find on their 2-disc The Exorcist III: Collector’s Edition Blu-ray, which streets on 10/25. Disc One will include The Exorcist III: Theatrical Cut via new 2K IP scan, with a vintage featurette, vintage interviews, a delete scene, alternate takes, bloopers, a deleted prologue, theatrical trailers, TV spots, and photo galleries. Disc Two will include Legion (the Original Director’s Cut) with all-new extras including an audio interview with writer/director William Peter Blatty and 5 featurettes (A “Wonderfull” Time, Signs of the Gemini, The Devil in the Details, Music for a Padded Cell, and All This Bleeding). Disney’s The Lone Ranger official, plus John Carpenter/Scream Factory BD details & more!
The big release news today is that Disney has just officially set The Lone Ranger for Blu-ray Combo and Digital release on 12/17. Extras will include a blooper reel, a deleted scene and 3 behind-the-scenes featurettes (totaling about 32 minutes – Riding the Rails of The Lone Ranger, Armies’ Western Road Trip and Becoming a Cowboy). You’ll find the final official cover artwork below.
PBS Distribution has announced an American Experience: War of the Worlds DVD release on 11/29, honoring the 75th anniversary of the original Orson Welles / Mercury Theater radio broadcast on 10/30. [Read on here…]
