All right, today’s Halloween Hangover review from Tim is a look at the Region B release of Killer Klowns from Outer Space on Blu-ray from Arrow Video in the UK. That’s an old favorite of ours here at The Bits and it sounds like the disc improves on MGM’s US Blu- ray release a good deal. Do check it out.

First up, Michael Coate has posted a nice look back at Stanley Kubrick’s Spartacus in honor of the film’s newly-remastered Blu-ray re-release by Universal. You’ll find that today in Michael’s History, Legacy & Showmanship column.

We’re starting the new week with a pair of great Blu-ray reviews, and some fine Blu-ray release news too...

First up, our own Tim Salmons has just posted his new Halloween Hangover review of Scream Factory’s long-awaited Army of Darkness: Collector’s Edition Blu-ray! Tim’s big Halloween Hangover review fest continues today with his look at Synapse Film’s new Curtains: Special Edition on Blu-ray, an interesting 1983 slasher by one Jonathan Stryker.

I’ve also tossed another Blu-ray review into the mix this week with a look at Warner’s new Team America: World Police disc, which just arrived in stores on Tuesday. It’s... well, the A/V quality isn’t bad, but if you were hoping the DVD extras would carry over, you’re going to be disappointed.  [Read on here…]

All right, I’ve got good news for you X-Files fans. When Fox announced the Blu-ray release of The X-Files: The Complete Series last week, we posted their complete press release here on The Bits including details about the extras the set will offer. Based on that list, it was clear that all of the Mythology Collection DVD extras would be included, but sharp-eyed fans noticed that some items from the previous individual season DVD releases weren’t listed. Thus, nervous fans began to e-mail us worrying that not everything would carry over to Blu-ray.  [Read on here…]

All right, yesterday was a busy one. Seems like I can either get an in-depth Blu-ray review done, or a daily column, but sometimes not both! I went for the Blu-ray review, as you can probably guess, and the result was my look at Disney’s new Aladdin: Diamond Edition. The disc arrived in stores yesterday. Going through the previous Platinum Edition DVD item by item, to confirm what was on the Blu-ray and what wasn’t (most of it did carry over), took forever. Given that this is Columbus Day here in the States, announcement news is a little bit thin today. But we do have a pair of new Blu-ray reviews for you.

Tim has posted his latest Halloween Hangover review, featuring Scream Factory’s Tales from the Crypt Presents: Demon Knight – Collector’s Edition, which arrives on Blu-ray next week (on 10/20). I’ve also posted my thoughts on Disney’s Tomorrowland, which streets on Blu-ray and DVD tomorrow. As expected, Fox’s The X-Files: The Complete Series Blu-ray has been officially announced and is now back up on Fox Connect and open for pre-orders. As we reported before, SRP is $299 and street date is 12/8. But just for New York Comic-Con weekend, the price has been lowered to just $150! Now, if you order through Fox Connect, we don’t get the Amazon affiliate support… but then we’d never advise anyone NOT to take a deal that good. Our guess is that next week (post Con) it will be up for pre-order on Amazon for something in the $200-$270 range, and then it will be discounted a bit around Black Friday week.
