We’ve got three new disc reviews to start the week, as well as some significant release news. So more on the latter in a minute...

Stuart has weighed in with a look at Edward Dmytryk’s Obsession (1949) on Blu-ray from Indicator here at The Bits today.

And Dennis has turned in his thoughts on Quarxx’s Pandemonium (2023) on Blu-ray from Arrow Video, as well as Basil Dearden’s The Man Who Haunted Himself (1970) on Blu-ray from Imprint.

Now then... the big news this afternoon is that Universal Pictures Home Entertainment has announced that the Digital release of Lee Isaac Chung’s Twisters (2024) will drop tomorrow on 8/13. It’ll come with deleted scenes and a gag reel. We don’t have an official street date yet for the physical media release, but that should follow in the weeks ahead as all physical SKUs are now available for pre-order. [Read on here...]

We’ve got two more new disc reviews for you to enjoy today, including...

My take on Trey Parker and Matt Stone’s Team America: World Police in 4K Ultra HD from Paramount, which streets this coming Tuesday.

Also, my review of Alfonso Cuarón’s Gravity (2013), which is available in a new reissue Blu-ray (essentially a repackage of the 2015 Diamond Luxe Edition with Dolby Atmos audio) from Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment.

I’m working on more disc reviews for early next week, including South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut (1999) and also The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare (2024), both in 4K UHD. And the rest of the review team will be back next week as well with a bunch more.

In announcement news today, Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment has officially set Ishana Night Shyamalan’s The Watchers (2024) for release on Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD on 8/27. Expect the Digital release to become available on 6/28. Extras will include 4 featurettes (Welcome to the Show: The Making of The Watchers, Creating The Watchers, Constructing the Coop, and Ainriochtán and the Irish Fairy Folklore) as well as a deleted scene. You can see the cover artwork at left and also below. [Read on here...]

We’re very pleased this morning to bring you some great breaking release news...

Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment has just officially set director Robert Zemeckis’ ground-breaking animation/live action comedy Who Framed Roger Rabbit (1988) for release on 4K Ultra HD on 12/7! You can see the cover artwork at left and also below.

We first reported that this title was coming over a year ago here at The Digital Bits, with studio sources originally providing us with a street date of 10/12. More recently those same sources had suggested to us that the title could slip into early 2022. (The other 4K title we were told to expect along with it—Michael Mann’s Heat (1995)—is likely to be so delayed.) So it’s great to see that work on the Roger Rabbit 4K release has finally been completed in time for a release this year. [Read on here...]
