Who Framed Roger Rabbit was shot and finished on film, so this new UHD presentation is the result of a recent 4K scan of the original camera negative (and master interpositive VFX footage). The 4K disc will include HDR10 high dynamic range and a brand new English 7.1.4 Dolby Atmos sound mix.
Per Disney, additional audio options will include English DVS 2.0 Dolby Digital, Spanish 1.0 Mono, and French 5.1 DTS Digital Surround, with subtitles available in English SDH, Spanish, and French.
The package will include the film on 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray. You’ll also get a Digital copy code on a paper insert.

So there you go! A few other news items of note today...
Universal has just updated Frankenstein and The Wolf Man on iTunes/Apple TV to 4K with HDR, so if you have the titles in your digital library there and you’re 4K ready, you should be able to check them out now.
Also, a Kino Lorber Studio Classics source has confirmed that the company will be releasing Kinka Usher’s Mystery Men (1999) in 4K Ultra HD (street date is still TBA). They’ve also apparently set their 4K UHD release of Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978) to street on 11/23.
And we’ve got a bit of disappointing news for fans of Kevin Costner’s Open Range: The new 101 Films Blu-ray edition from the UK isn’t worth your time or money. It’s Region B locked, offers no extras whatsoever, and has only LPCM 2.0 stereo audio. That means the best version of Open Range available on disc remains the 2010 Leonine German Blu-ray. It’s also Region B locked, but it offers all of the previous DVD extras & more (including the audio commentary), and it has fine 6.1 DTS-HD Master Audio sound mixes in both English and German. You can find it on Amazon here (but again, keep in mind that you’ll need an all region player to be able to watch it).
