Okay... today’s Bits post is a very quick one, as we’re gearing up for tomorrow’s big Halloween finale for The Hell Plaza Oktoberfest Se7en.   BUT...

The mad Dr. Jahnke’s Oktoberfest review for today is a gem – a preview of an upcoming DVD release from our very dear friend Bob Burns.  It’s Bob Burns’ Hollywood Halloween!  The 2-disc set looks back at all the great Halloween haunted houses that Bob and Kathy have held over the years at their home in Burbank!  It includes a documentary by Lindsey Keith Jackson, footage of the actual haunted house experiences, interviews with the likes of John Landis, menus produced by our friend Van Ling, cover art by Vincent Di Fate and much more!  The DVD is not quite ready for wide release yet, and distribution is still TBA.  BUT...  [Read on here...]

Bob has been wonderful enough to provide us with TWO copies of the Bob Burns’ Hollywood Halloween DVD to give away as part of our Oktoberfest celebration!  And one of them is up for grabs today over on The Bits Facebook page!  Entries will be accepted until 6 PM (Pacific) so head on over there quick for your chance to take home an amazing 2-disc DVD experience that’s not available anywhere else yet!

Meanwhile, Doogan chimes in today with a review of a new film by Drive director Nicolas Winding Refn – Only God Forgives, available now on Blu-ray from Anchor Bay Entertainment.

And finally today, our own Bud Elder has turned in a terrific new View from the Cheap Seats column in which he regales us with stories of his experiences attending The National Cowboy Hall of Fame’s annual Western Heritage Awards over the years.  Bud also remembers his late friend Ron Joy who, among other things, was Nancy Sinatra’s personal photographer and friend.  Joy was also the official photographer for The Beatles when they first came to America.  And as always, Bud highlights some great new classic releases on Blu-ray and DVD.  You definitely don’t want to miss it.

And that’s all for now.  Back tomorrow with the big Hell Plaza Oktoberfest finale!

Stay tuned...
