More Ultra HD news: Liongate’s Conan (2011) & Legend of Hercules, WB’s Peanuts & Nolan confirms Dark Knight in 4K
Afternoon, folks! All right, a couple things today...
First, today is Prime Day on Amazon. If you’re a Prime member, there are supposed to be some good deals on various things over there, reportedly including 4K Ultra HD displays. Now, I haven’t had time to go over there and check myself, so that may or may not be, but if you do purchase anything, here’s our Amazon link to take you there (we appreciate the support!): Bits Amazon Link.
Now then... Tim has turned in a pair of new Blu-ray reviews, featuring Scream Factory’s terrific new Species: Collector’s Edition Blu-ray and also a recent release from Australian distributor Umbrella Entertainment. The title in question is The Punisher (1989), and it’s an all region release for those who may be interested. Enjoy! [Read on here…]

All right, it looks like the site is finally up and working again, and it seems fairly stable. We’re continuing to make some tweaks to improve the performance, but it appears that things are starting getting back to normal here at The Bits at last. For the next couple of days, however, we’re going to keep the posts fairly simple just to make sure. So let’s have an release news update...
In new announcements today, Paramount Home Entertainment has just revealed that they’re releasing a new Juice: 25th Anniversary Edition on Blu-ray on 6/6.
Amazon is now taking pre-orders for Homeland: The Complete Sixth Season on Blu-ray and DVD from 20th Century Fox with the street date TBA. [Read on here…]

Pardon Our Server Issues, Plus LOTS More 4K Titles, Sgt. Pepper, Lion in Winter, a Word on Rogue One Extras & More
All right, first things first: We had a hard drive meltdown at the server farm a couple of days ago, the upshot of which is that The Bits (and several other sites) crashed for about a day. We’re on a newly-built server now and we seem to be back up and running, but it’s likely that there’s going to be some tweaking needed to get back to full stability. So anyway, we appreciate your patience. With a little luck, full normality should be restored by Monday morning.
In the meantime, I posted my in-depth review of Disney and Lucasfilm’s Rogue One: A Star Wars Story Blu-ray on Tuesday afternoon in case you missed it. I’ll have more to say about that subject in a minute.
Also, our own Tim Salmons has posted a new Pick-Ups review of Monty Python’s The Meaning of Life: 30th Anniversary Edition on Blu-ray. And Russell Hammond has posted the weekly update of the Release Dates & Artwork section with all the latest Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K cover artwork and Amazon.com pre-order links. Don’t forget, you can now sort titles by format in 4K in addition to DVD and Blu-ray. And a portion of anything you order from Amazon, after clicking to them from our links, goes to help support our work here at The Bits and we really appreciate it. [Read on here…]

Lion official, Pink Panther delay, MST3K: XXXVIII, Fantastic Fear & Why Him?, plus lots more news & art
We’re kicking off today’s update here at The Bits with a trio of new disc reviews...
First up, I spent the whole day yesterday going through Sony’s new 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray edition of Ang Lee’s Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk. The package includes 4K, Blu-ray 3D, Blu-ray, and Digital HD. Whatever you may think of the film itself, this A/V presentation is a must have for 4K enthusiasts. Full native 4K in 60 frames per second with High Dynamic Range and Dolby Atmos audio is a helluva thing.
Also, Tim has checked out a pair of regular Blu-rays for you, including Sony’s Don’t Breathe and Kino Lorber Studio Classics’ Haunted Honeymoon. Both are worth your time. [Read on here…]
