We’re rounding out the week with a trio of additional disc reviews here at the site...

Stephen and Tim have checked in with thoughts on Scream Factory’s new 4K Ultra HD release of Joe Dante’s The Howling.

Tim has also taken a look at Mario and Lamberto Bava’s Shock (1977), which is now available on Blu-ray from Arrow Video.

And Dennis has delivered a new look at Nicholas Ray’s Party Girl (1958) on Blu-ray from The Warner Archive Collection.

More reviews are on the way for next week too, including my own of Frank Darabont’s The Green Mile in 4K from Warner. So be sure to check back then.

In terms of announcement news today, we expect Disney and 20th Century Studios to officially announce Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story for release on Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD any time now, with an anticipated street date of 3/15. You can see the retail cover artwork below. [Read on here...]

All right, we’re starting today with a couple of new disc reviews...

First of all, Stephen has checked out Michael Mann’s Collateral on 4K Ultra HD, as released late last year on the format by Paramount Home Entertainment. It’s a modest upgrade, but might be worth a look for fans.

Also, Dennis has turned in his thoughts on D.A. Pennebaker’s 1970 documentary film Original Cast Album: Company, as newly released on Blu-ray by the Criterion Collection. Do check it out.

Now then, the big release news today is that Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment and 20th Century Studios have just officially set Shawn Levy’s Free Guy for release on Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD on 10/12, with the Digital release expected on 9/28. The 4K disc will include HDR10 high dynamic range and Dolby Atmos audio. [Read on here...]

Sorry for our absence yesterday. We’ve been dealing with various and sundry server issues over the weekend and we’re just starting to get back to normal. Honestly, it’s a wonder the Internet still works at all these days. So anyway, thanks for your patience.

We have a bunch of title announcements to cover today, but first, today marks the 20th anniversary of our friends Robert Meyer Burnett and Mark A. Altman’s film Free Enterprise. So we wanted to call your attention to Michael Coate’s retrospective on the film from its 15th anniversary back in 2014. You can read Still Loving Long & Partying: Remembering Free Enterprise on its 15th Anniversary right here. The film isn’t on Blu-ray yet and so it’s always surprising how many people haven’t see it. But if you’re a fan of classic Star Trek, pop culture, and actors William Shatner and Eric McCormack, we think you’ll really enjoy it.

Meanwhile, we’re starting to get back to reviews. I still have two more Batman 4Ks coming, plus Tim and Dennis have some Blu-rays they’ve reviewed for you too. I’ve also got a trio of science fiction Blu-ray releases I’m going to try to cover soon as well. So be sure to watch for those. [Read on here...]
