Welcome to a new edition of Pick-Ups!

Thank you for tuning in. Sorry for my absence, but I’ve been on a bit of a vacation. My Mom came down to visit with us, so our focus was on spending some time with her.

While she was here, we did manage to catch Keanu and Captain America: Civil War at the theater. Both were enjoyable and definitely going out and seeing if you haven’t yet (I’m sure most of you have seen the latter movie by now). [Read on here…]

We’ve got a pair of new reviews for you to start off the week: Our own Tim Salmons has turned in his thoughts on Universal’s Krampus and Jim Hemphill has taken a look at Shout! Factory’s Bad Influence, both of them on regular Blu-ray. Tim’s review also kicks off a new edition of Pick-Ups, in which he’ll have a new review for you each day this week. Do give them all a look.

Tim kicks things off this afternoon with another of his Pick-Ups Blu-ray reviews. This time he’s checking out Scream Factory’s recent double feature release of The Dungeonmaster and The Eliminators. Do give it a look.

In announcement news today, Universal has just officially set Krampus for release on Blu-ray and DVD on 4/26, with the digital HD release due on 4/12. Both disc versions will include audio commentary with director/co-writer Michael Dougherty and co-writers Todd Casey, and Zach Shields, an alternate ending, deleted and extended scenes, a gag reel, image galleries, and The Naughty Ones: Meet the Cast featurette. To this, the Blu-ray will exclusively add 5 additional featurettes (including Krampus and His Minions, Practical Danger, Inside the Snowglobe: Production Design, Behind the Scenes at Weta Workshop: Krampus, and Dougherty’s Vision). All right, first things first today... we’ve got a Blu-ray review for you. Jim Hemphill has turned in his thoughts on Robber’s Roost, a 1955 Western directed by Sidney Salkow and available now on Blu-ray from Kino Lorber Studio Classics. Do give it a look.
