All right, first things first today... we’ve got a Blu-ray review for you. Jim Hemphill has turned in his thoughts on Robber’s Roost, a 1955 Western directed by Sidney Salkow and available now on Blu-ray from Kino Lorber Studio Classics. Do give it a look.

Also today, our own Russell Hammond has updated the Release Dates & Artwork section with all the latest Blu-ray and DVD cover artwork, as well as Amazon.com pre-order links. As always, a portion of anything you order from Amazon after clicking to them through our links goes to help support our work here at The Bits, and we appreciate it. [Read on here…]

Now then... it turns out that Disney has announced a Blu-ray 3D version of The Good Dinosaur, but strangely it wasn’t much promoted in their official press release, just sort of mentioned in passing at the very end. In any case, it streets the same day as the regular Blu-ray and DVD version. SRP is $39.99, but Amazon has it up for $35.99. I’ll add the cover artwork below.

Also, we mentioned a new Fear the Walking Dead: The Complete First Season Blu-ray release that’s due to street on 3/22. We’ve suspected that it’s a new Special Edition release (as there was already a basic Blu-ray release), and indeed that’s what it turns out to be.  The 2-disc set includes audio commentaries, Pilot Episode: The Widescreen Version, deleted scenes, and 8 featurettes (Inside Fear the Walking Dead, FEAR: The Beginning, Five Things You Need to Survive, Locations: LA & Vancouver, Quarantined, Stunts and Anarchy, The Faces of Fear, and The Infected). You can see the cover artwork below.

Speaking of Amazon, the retailer is now taking pre-orders for Paramount’s 13 Hours, Sony’s Concussion, Fox’s The Revenant, Universal’s The Forest and Krampus, The Hateful Eight, and of course Star Wars: The Force Awakens. We have no official street dates for any of those, but click on the titles to visit the pre-order pages for each.

In announcement news, 20th Century Fox has set Victor Frankenstein for Blu-ray and DVD release on 3/8. Extras will include the 7-part The Making of Victor Frankenstein documentary, deleted scenes, and galleries of production art and photos.

Meanwhile, Warner Home Video has set Ryan Coogler’s outstanding Rocky spin-off, Creed, for Blu-ray and DVD release on 3/1. I have to say, that was one of my favorite films of 2015. I’m really looking forward to watching this on Blu-ray and (eventually) Ultra HD Blu-ray.

Lionsgate has set Mohave for Blu-ray and DVD release on 4/5, starring Oscar Isaac and Mark Wahlberg, as well as Exposed for Blu-ray and DVD release on 3/29, starring Keanu Reeves and Mira Sorvino.

Lionsgate has also just announced The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 and The Hunger Games: The Complete 4-Film Collection for release on Blu-ray and DVD on 3/22 (digital HD release on 3/8). The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 will include audio commentary with director Francis Lawrence and producer Nina Jacobson, the Pawns No More: Making The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 8-part documentary (includes Walking Through Fire: Concluding the Saga, Real or Not Real: Visual Design, High-Value Targets: The Acting Ensemble, From Head to Toe: Costume, Make-up & Hair, Navigating the Minefield: Production in Atlanta, Paris & Berlin, Collateral Damage: Stunts, Special Effects & Weapons, Tightening the Noose: The Post-Production Process, and A Different World: Reflections), as well as 4 featurettes (The Hunger Games: A Photographic Journey, Cinna’s Sketchbook: Secrets of the Mockingjay Armor, Panem on Display: The Hunger Games – The Exhibition, and Jet to the Set). The Hunger Games: The Complete 4-Film Collection will include the previous Blu-ray releases of the earlier films, with all the previous extras, including 12 never-before-seen deleted scenes from The Hunger Games, 6 deleted scenes from The Hunger Games: Catching Fire including 1 never-before-seen, 9 deleted scenes from The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1, 2 all-new featurettes (including Picturing Panem and Capitol Cuisine), and more. It’s 14 hours of bonus content in all. Here’s a look at the open Complete 4-Film Collection Blu-ray packaging, and you’ll find the other cover artwork below...
