All right, this will be a day long remembered! Rogue One: A Star Wars Story opens tonight at theaters all across the States and around the world. But we’ll come back to that in a moment.

First, we’ve got more reviews for you. I’ve just posted my thoughts on Warner and DC’s Suicide Squad in 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray format. I don’t much care for the film myself, but it sure looks great and the 4K disc is pretty terrific in terms of A/V quality. There’s a nice batch of extras on the enclosed Blu-ray too. So that’s something.

Also, Tim has turned in his thoughts on Val Lewton and Jacques Tourneur’s classic 1942 horror film Cat People, which has recently been released on Blu-ray Disc by our friends over at the Criterion Collection. It’s a great disc, so don’t miss it!  [Read on here…]

Speaking of Criterion, and by way of announcement news today, the big deal is that Criterion has just officially unveiled its March Blu-ray and DVD slate, which is set to include Andrew Haigh’s 45 Years (Cat #861 – Blu-ray and DVD) on 3/7, Felipe Cazals’ Canoa: A Shameful Memory (Cat #862 – Blu-ray and DVD) on 3/14, John Waters’ Multiple Maniacs (Cat #863 – Blu-ray and DVD) and Hal Ashby’s Being There (Cat #864 – Blu-ray and DVD) on 3/21, and Michelangelo Antonioni’s Blow-Up (Cat #865 – Blu-ray and DVD) on 3/28.. What an interesting batch of titles! You can see the cover artwork below. We’ve updated our Criterion Spines Project list here at The Bits with these titles as well.

Also today, we’ve confirmed with the distributor MVD Entertainment that Arrow Academy’s Cinema Paradiso: Special Edition Blu-ray release will be a Barnes & Noble exclusive (due on 3/7), while the standard edition of the title on Blu-ray will be available widely here in the States (on 3/21). Just so you know. We’ll be posting the cover artwork for each version so you can tell them apart soon.

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has announced the Blu-ray release of the xXx: 15th Anniversary Edition on 1/10. The film has been remastered and will include the new Origins of a Renegade featurette along with all of the legacy extras (including deleted scenes, 10 more featurette, audio commentary, music videos, and more).

And finally today, back to Star Wars: Disney and Lucasfilm’s Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is starting to become available for Blu-ray pre-order. It’s currently up on Amazon.co.uk as a Blu-ray/Blu-ray 3D Combo release (street date TBA – see this pre-order link) and we expect pre-orders to go live on Amazon here in the States soon too. We will add links and cover artwork as soon as they’re available. Meanwhile, you can see the temp art for the U.K. release below.

And we’ve also included more new Blu-ray cover artwork, with Amazon.com pre-order links if available (note that the Rogue One link goes to the U.K. – we will add the U.S. cover artwork and pre-order link soon – same with the Criterion BD links)...

Rouge One: A Star Wars Story (Region B Blu-ray/Blu-ray 3D)   xXx: 15th Anniversary Edition (Blu-ray Disc)   Blow-Up (Criterion Blu-ray Disc)

Canoa (Criterion Blu-ray Disc)   Multiple Maniacs (Criterion Blu-ray Disc)   Being There (Criterion Blu-ray Disc)

45 Years (Criterion Blu-ray Disc)   Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Crisis (Blu-ray Disc)   Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Crisis 2nd GIG (Blu-ray Disc)

All right, everyone. If you’re going to see Rogue One tonight or tomorrow... enjoy! We’ll see you back here tomorrow and I’ll have a non-spoiler review for you. See you then and may the Force be with you!
