Our friends at Via Vision have unveiled their next batch of Imprint Films Blu-ray titles for July, which are set to include a double feature of Silvio Narizzano’s Blue (1968) and Alan Smithee’s (aka Jud Taylor’s) Fade In (1973)—it also comes with a feature-length documentary Cruel, Usual, Necessary: The Passion of Silvio Narizzano (2024)—Martin Ritt’s Hud (1963), Sydney Pollack’s This Property Is Condemned (1966), William A. Wellman’s Track of the Cat (1954), Fritz Lang’s You Only Live Once (1937), Edward Dmytryk’s The Juggler (1953), and Cy Endfield’s Jet Storm (1959). All are expected to street on 7/30 and they’ll be limited to 1500 copies each. You can see the cover art below, and you can pre-order them here.
Paramount will release Jonathan Lynn’s Clue (1985) and Karyn Kusama’s Aeon Flux (2005) in 4K Ultra HD Steelbook format on 10/7. The former debuted on 4K disc back in 2023, while the latter is new to the format.
Meanwhile, the British Film Institute (BFI) has just announced their July slate of Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD titles, which is set to include Ken Russell’s Women in Love (1969) in 4K Ultra HD and Gurinder Chadha’s Bhaji on the Beach (1993) on Blu-ray on July 14, as well as Justin Kerrigan’s Human Traffic (1999) in 4K Ultra HD on July 21.
And Eureka! has set Lo Wei’s cult classic The Tattooed Dragon (1973) for Blu-ray release on July 21 in the UK, as part of their Eureka Classics line.
In other news this afternoon, Film Movement has revealed that Tsui Jark’s comedy rom-com Shanghai Blues (1984) is returning to theaters on 6/20 in a new 4K restoration. It’s possible that a 4K UHD or Blu-ray release could follow in the months ahead.
And here’s something fun: The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in L.A. is going to be screening the new 4K DCP of Steve Lisberger’s Tron (1982) on 7/3 in the David Geffen Theatre. And the screening will actually feature Dolby Vision. This is the new 4K restoration that we expect to see on physical 4K Ultra HD—along with Joseph Kosinski’s Tron: Legacy (2010)—later this year, in time for the 10/10 theatrical release of the third film in the series, Joachim Rønning’s Tron: Ares (2025). Tickets are currently still available, so click on this link and act fast if you’re interested in attending.
We’ll leave you with a look at the cover artwork for The Minecraft Movie on 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray (click on the art to visit the Amazon.com pre-order pages)…
That’s all for now. Stay tuned!
