Factory Ent giveaway at Noon (PDT), Stop-Loss, Despicable Me 2 extras, One Direction & more!

We’ve got a pair of new Blu-ray reviews for you today, starting with today’s Hell Plaza Oktoberfest review from Adam: Synapse’s Hands of the Ripper from the Hammer Films collection.

Also, our own Tim Salmons has turned in his thoughts on Criterion’s recent Blu-ray upgrade of Lord of the Flies.  Enjoy!

In announcement news today, Warner has set the Paramount title Stop-Loss for Blu-ray only release on 2/4/14 (SRP $16.99).  [Read on here…]

Warner and Viz Media will release Lagrange: Set 2 on Blu-ray and DVD on 1/7/14, followed by Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan – Demon Capital: Set 1 on both formats on 1/28.

Lionsgate has set Ritual for Blu-ray release on 12/31.

Universal has announced the list of extras due to be found on the Blu-ray 3D, Blu-ray and DVD release of Despicable Me 2 on 12/10. The Blu-ray will offer the following exclusive features: 2 all new mini-movies featuring the Minions (Puppy, Panic in the Mailroom and Training Wheels) and 5 featurettes (The Making of the Mini-Movies, The Minions, Evil Minions, A Gru-Some Transformation and El Hombre Malo: The Villani of El Macho).  Both the Blu-ray and DVD will include audio commentary with directors Chris Renaud and Pierre Coffin and 2 additional featurettes (Gru’s Girls and Gadgets Galore).

Sony will release One Direction: This Is Us on Blu-ray 3D, Blu-ray, DVD and Digital on 12/13.  A number of behind-the-scenes featurettes will be included.

Magnolia Home Entertainment has set the documentary Blackfish (on the problems with keeping killer whales in captivity) for Blu-ray and DVD release on 11/12 (SRP $29.98 and $26.98).  Extras will include extended interviews, the AXS TV: A Look at Blackfish featurette and the trailer.

And Eagle Rock Entertainment has set Move Me Brightly: Celebrating Jerry Garcia’s 70th Birthday on DVD, Blu-ray and digital on 10/29.
