Paramount has also just listed a new Paramount Presents catalog title for 4K + Blu-ray release on 11/14... James L. Brooks’ Terms of Endearment (1983). We expect more details soon, but here’s what that looks like...
We’re not done with Paramount yet... content producer Justin Beahm has revealed on Twitter that Paramount is launching a new Paramount Scares line of horror collections. And the first release looks to be a set that includes five titles in 4K Ultra HD... Rosemary’s Baby, Pet Sematary, Crawl, Smile, and a mystery title as yet unannounced (to be revealed at a later date). We don’t have a street date yet for this set, but you can see an open packaging image here...
We have two more Paramount items to cover today... first, Paramount and Comedy Central have announced a new South Park title—South Park: The Streaming Wars—for release on Blu-ray and DVD on 11/7. This will include both parts of the made-for-steaming of the same name. You can see that cover below as well.
And we’re hearing from Bits readers that there’s an error on Paramount’s new Star Trek: Picard – Season Three Blu-ray, which streets today. Apparently, the very first shot of the USS Enterprise-D (in the episode The Last Generation) has been swapped with what seems to be a temp VFX shot, instead of the properly-rendered final shot that appears on the Paramount+ streaming version of the episode. (Note: This early shot also appeared briefly on Paramount+, before it was replaced with the final version of the shot.) You can see the shot as it appears on Blu-ray now here...
And this is the shot as it should appear (and currently does on Paramount+)...
We would certainly expect CBS and Paramount to fix the error and issue replacement discs. Thanks to Bits reader David D. for the heads-up, and to Aaron at Trek Core for the images. [We’ll post an update when and if the studio responds.]
Now then, we’ve also got major Shout! and Scream Factory news to report today... the studio has just announced their November slate of Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD titles, and as always there are some real gems on the way...
Starting on 11/7, look for the Coen Brothers’ Fargo (1996) in 4K Ultra HD.
On 11/14, expect Ben and Jacob Burghart’s Head Count (2023) and Aardman’s Shaun the Sheep: The Flight Before Christmas (2021) on DVD, along with Ernest Dickerson’s Surviving the Game (1994) and The Sonny Chiba Collection: Volume 2 on Blu-ray. The latter is a Shout Select title featuring the films The Defensive Power of Aikido (1975), 13 Steps of Maki (1975), Karate Warriors (1976), The Great Okinawa Yakuza War (1976), Karate for Life (1977), Golgo 13: Assignment Kowloon (1977), and The Okinawa War of Ten Years (1978).
Following on 11/21, look for Dan Attias’ Silver Bullet (1985) in 4K Ultra HD and The Police Academy Collection on Blu-ray, which includes Police Academy (1984), Police Academy 2: Their First Assignment (1985), Police Academy 3: Back in Training (1986), Police Academy 4: Citizens on Patrol (1987), Police Academy 5: Assignment Miami Beach (1988), Police Academy 6: City Under Siege (1989), and Police Academy: Mission to Moscow (1994). Also coming that day is the Farscape: The Complete Series – 25th Anniversary Edition on Blu-ray, which includes a ton of legacy extras, as well as the all-new A Look Back at Farscape retrospective featurette (with Brian Henson, Rockne O’Bannon, and Adam Savage) as well as The Peacekeeper Wars miniseries.
And finally, on 11/28 look for Justin Lee’s Among Wolves (2023) on DVD, Andrew Dominik’s Chopper (2000) on Blu-ray, and Eli Roth’s Death Wish (2018) and our old friend John Harrison’s Tales from the Dark Side: The Movie (1990) both in 4K Ultra HD.
All right, that’s enough for now. Here’s a look at the cover artwork for a bunch of the titles mentioned above, with Amazon pre-order links if available...
Back with more tomorrow morning. Stay tuned...!
