Also today, Kino Lorber Studio Classics has revealed some more good new 4K catalog titles, including Alberto De Martino’s The Antichrist (1974), Albert Band’s Zoltan… Hound of Dracula (1977), and Richard Franklin’s Link (1986) for release on 9/10, followed by Jon Favreau’s Cowboys & Aliens (2011) on 9/17. Note that Cowboys & Aliens will feature an SDR grade only due to technical issues with the original DI master that could not be resolved. But we think it’s still better to have the film in 4K for those who want it regardless.
Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment has announced a new animated Batman 10-Film Collection 4K box set in honor of the character’s 85th anniversary. Look for that to street on 9/10 and to include Batman: Mask of the Phantasm (1993), Batman Year One (2011), Batman: Assault on Arkham (2014), Batman: The Killing Joke (2016), Batman and Harley Quinn (2017), Batman: Gotham by Gaslight (2018), Batman: Hush (2019), Batman: Soul of the Dragon (2021), Batman: The Long Halloween (2021), and Batman: The Doom That Came to Gotham (2023).
Here’s something exciting: Amazon is now taking pre-orders for the Blu-ray, Blu-ray Steelbook, and 4K Ultra HD Steelbook release of GKids’ Arcane: League of Legends – Season One, which are due to street on 10/8. And before we go, I just want to quickly acknowledge yesterday’s passing of the great comic legend Bob Newhart, who will be familiar to many of you for his TV series The Bob Newhart Show (1972-78) and Newhart (1982-1990), as well as for his guest starring role in Jon Favreau’s Christmas classic Elf (2003), and for his cameos on The Big Bang Theory in recent years. I’ll have more to say about Bob’s life and work on Monday.
We’ll leave you today with a look at the cover artwork for some of the titles mentioned above and more, all with Amazon.com pre-order links...
Have a great weekend! Stay tuned...
