Sorry for the lack of an update yesterday. I apparently slept with my neck bent in a strange position on Tuesday morning, the result of which is that I woke up with a wicked case of vertigo. So I ended up spending most of the day in bed until it passed. Not much else to do. Everything’s fine now. Just let this be a lesson to you kids: A good quality pillow is very important. LOL.

Anyway, the big news today is that Sony has officially announced Justified: The Complete Final Season for Blu-ray and DVD release on 6/2. As fans will already know, the show’s finale aired last night on FX and I think it was pretty great. I’ve really enjoyed this series. Anyway, both the Blu-ray and DVD will include the Hollywood to Harlan featurette (featuring the show’s writers). To this, the Blu-ray will add Directing the Show: Adam Arkin, Dutch Speaks (a vintage interview with writer Elmore Leonard about his thoughts on the show), and deleted scenes.  [Read on here…]

Kino Lorber has set Michael Ritchie’s Prime Cut (1972) and William A. Meanwhile, Peter Hyams’ Busting (1974), Alistair MacLean’s The Satan Bug (1965) and Pete Walker’s House of the Long Shadows (1983) are all coming soon. Street dates for all are TBA.

Speaking of Twilight, I’m working on a full review but let me just say that their new Zardoz (1974) Blu-ray is outstanding. The HD transfer is terrific for a film of this vintage, the 2.0 sound is a solid DTS-HD MA (with English SDH subs) and the extras carry over the great John Boorman director’s commentary, radio spots and trailer from the DVD release (though not the gallery) and they add a fun new commentary with Jeff Bond, Joe Fordham and Nick Redman, and an isolated score track. I just watched it the other night and it’s a great release. Don’t hesitate to pick it up while you can here.

One site note: Our own Russell Hammond has updated the Release Dates & Artwork update with all the latest Blu-ray and DVD cover artwork and Amazon.com pre-order links. Remember – anything you order from Amazon after clicking through our links goes to help support our work here at The Bits and we really do appreciate it.

Finally, tomorrow is Star Wars Celebration in Anaheim, CA, where director JJ Abrams and producer Kathleen Kennedy are expected to unveil the first full trailer for Star Wars: Episode VII (on a panel that runs from 10-11 AM Pacific). By the way, if you want to go and don’t yet have 4-day passes, I have a couple friends who have extras they’re unable to use for just $100. Post on The Bits’ Facebook page here if you’re interested and they’ll contact you. Now, if you can’t be there in person, apparently Star Wars.com is going to have a live broadcast going all day. There IS going to be a live stream of the Abrams/Kennedy panel, but I’m not sure if they’re showing the trailer or not. Either way, here’s the link to watch live.

All right, we’ll leave you today with a look at more Blu-ray cover artwork with Amazon links if available...
