All right, we’ve got a lot of ground to cover today. We have several new disc reviews—at least one from each member of the Bits review team—and plenty of announcement news for you as well. First, those reviews...

First, I’ve posted my review of John Huston’s first film, The Maltese Falcon (1941), in a beautiful new 4K Ultra HD restoration from Warner Bros.

Stephen has reviewed Lucio Fulci’s City of the Living Dead (1980) in 4K Ultra HD from Cauldon Films.

Dennis has turned in his thoughts on Jim McBride’s Breathless (1983) in Blu-ray from Fun City Editions via Vinegar Syndrome.

Stuart has offered his thoughts on Joseph McGrath’s The Bliss of Miss Blossom (1968) on Blu-ray from Kino Lorber Studio Classics, as well as Sam Woods’s Goodbye Mr. Chips (1939) on Blu-ray from the Warner Archive Collection.

And Tim rounds things out with his reviews of William Peter Blatty’s The Exorcist III (1990) in 4K Ultra HD from Scream Factory, as well as Tope Hoper’s The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974) in 4K Ultra HD from Turbine Medien in Germany.

More new reviews are on the way as well in the coming days, so be sure to keep checking back for them. [Read on here...]

Now then, let’s get to the official announcements first...

Universal has just set Cocaine Bear for release on Blu-ray and DVD on 4/18, with the Digital version due on 4/14. Extras will include commentary with Elizabeth Banks and Max Handelman, deleted and extended scenes, an alternate ending, a gag reel, and 3 featurettes (All Roads Lead to Cokey: The Making of Cocaine Bear, UnBEARable Bloodbath: Dissecting the Kills, and Doing Lines). So there you go.

This one is near and dear to my heart: Dazzler Media has finally just set Season One and Season Two of the Apple TV+ original series For All Mankind for release on Region 2 Blu-ray in the UK on 5/1. You can see the cover artwork below. Dazzler has been releasing a number of Apple TV originals on Blu-ray in the UK. Before you ask, there’s currently no US release planned, nor is there a 4K. The series is, of course, available in 4K with HDR via streaming only. We have high hopes that the series will find its way to 4K eventually, but for now—if you’re a fan of the series (and you should be)—here’s a legit disc option for you to consider.

Paramount Home Entertainment has revealed two more new catalog 4K releases: Look for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2014) and the wide Amaray release of The War of the Worlds (1953) to street on 7/25.

Lionsgate has made several new announcements too, including The Freak Brothers: Season One on Digital only on 4/17, Jesus Revolution on Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital on 4/25, Fear the Walking Dead: The Complete Seasons 1-7 on Digital only on 5/1, and Maximum Overdrive on Blu-ray Steelbook on 5/30.

Also, the Warner Archive Collection has a great slate of deep catalog Blu-ray titles coming this month on 4/25, including Safe in Hell (1931), One Way Passage (1932), Strawberry Blonde (1941), Storm Warning (1951), and A Lion Is in the Streets (1953). Also, our old friend George Feltenstein has informed us that he’s regained control of the Warner Archive Collection Facebook page, so you’ll find plenty of new posts, cover artwork, and announcement news over there going forward. Welcome back!

And now we’re into Rumor Mill territory, but the Australian video retailer Sanity (Sanity.com.au) is indicating that Cutthroat Island (1995), Cross of Iron (1977), and Battlestar Galactica (1978) are coming to 4K Ultra HD in July. Cutthroat is a Lionsgate title here in the US, while Cross is StudioCanal, and Battlestar is obviously Universal. We don’t have any more information on these at the moment, but we’ll keep our eyes and ears peeled and update you when we hear more.

We’ll leave you with a look at the cover artwork for some of the titles mentioned above with Amazon (US and UK) pre-order links if available...
