The big announcement news today is all 4K UHD-related. First up, 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment has essentially confirmed what we already knew, which is that Deadpool is coming to DVD, Blu-ray, and 4K UHD Blu-ray on 5/10. We’re waiting on additional details related to the 4K SKU. You can see the final cover artwork here (click on each for the respective pre-order link)...
As you can see, we also threw in the final cover art for Universal’s Airport: The Complete Collection on Blu-ray Disc (due 6/14). Again, click the cover for the pre-order Amazon link.
The other big 4K UHD news today is that Sony Picture Home Entertainment has just officially announced that Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters 2 are getting 4K UHD upgrades on 6/7, featuring new Dolby Atmos soundtracks. Each will also include the previous Blu-ray versions with extras. Note also that Sony is releasing “over 50 episodes of the iconic 1980s animated series, The Real Ghostbusters, on DVD July 7 and on Digital” as well. All of this is obviously timed to promote the 7/15 theatrical release of the new all-female Ghostbusters remake from director Paul Feig. Meanwhile, here’s the cover art for the 4K titles (we’ll add the 4K Amazon pre-order links as soon as they’re live)...
For you UK Blu-ray fans (as you can see above), Eureka is releasing Wolfgang Petersen’s Enemy Mine on Blu-ray Disc on 6/20 (SRP £17.99). It will include a new transfer of the film, optional English SDH subs, and the film’s trailer.
For those of you who are Disney Movie Club members, it looks like Operation Dumbo Drop is coming as a new BD exclusive title.
And finally today, Shout! Factory has confirmed the 5/17 Blu-ray release of I Saw What You Did (1965), featuring a new HD transfer, the Special World Premiere Announcement featuring William Castle, a photo gallery, and the film’s trailer.
Stay tuned...
