CPO Sharkey is coming to DVD from Time Life, plus Home Media awards voting & new BD reviews

Today’s news post is a quick one, as I’m still working on more Blu-ray Disc reviews.

However... I do have a pair of new BD reviews for you today, including a look at Warner’s Gravity: Diamond Luxe Edition and also their theatrical edition of The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies. The new Gravity BD streets on 3/31, while The Hobbit hits stores next Tuesday. [Read on here…]

Meanwhile today, we have a couple quick things to report...

First of all, Time Life has announced that they’re going to be releasing NBC’s classic 70s sitcom CPO Sharkey on DVD, starting with The Complete First Season on 5/19 (SRP $29.95). The 3-disc set will include all 15 half-hour episodes, along with a clip of star Don Rickles appearing on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson.

Also, our friends over at Home Media Magazine have just kicked off the voting in their annual Home Media Awards. Be sure to click here to vote for your favorite titles from 2014. You have until 4/17 to do so and the winners will be announced on 5/4.

Finally today, just a quick heads-up: We’ll be back here at The Bits tomorrow morning with another great new History, Legacy & Showmanship column from our own Michael Coate, this time featuring a look back at Steven Spielberg’s 1941. Be sure to check back for it.
