In announcement news today, Visual Entertainment has revealed that they’re releasing The Equalizer: The Second Season and The Equalizer: The Complete Collection on DVD on 8/26 (SRP $29.99 and $99.99). All right, there was no update yesterday because I was up in L.A. checking out Robert Harris’ recent restoration tests of The Alamo with my own two eyes. Despite what MGM has claimed officially, let me assure you, having now seen the tests firsthand – which the studio has apparently not done yet for some strange reason (and how weird is that?) – this film is in serious need of restoration. The good news, however, is that I’ve also seen tests of how good the film could look like if given a restoration. The result would easily be worth theatrical presentation and a solid Blu-ray release. So keep spreading the word and keep the pressure on the studio. Fingers crossed. [Read on here…]

We’ve got a quick rundown of new Blu-ray and DVD announcement news for you today, including cool new catalog titles from Shout!, Scream and Warner…

First up, PBS has set Ken Burns: The Roosevelts for Blu-ray release on 9/16 (SRP $129.99).

The BBC (via Warner) will release Orphan Black: Season 2 on Blu-ray and DVD on 6/24.

Amazon has The Walking Dead: The Complete Fourth Season – Limited Edition Blu-ray set available for pre-order now for $90.99. Street date is 8/26, like the regular Blu-ray and DVD, but this version comes in special “Tree Walker” packaging.
