So there you have it!
There are obviously a couple of improvements here, most notably the fact that these discs will now include Dolby Vision HDR for the first time (the previous TV seasons included HDR10 only).
However, Blu-ray fans may be upset to learn that there are no Blu-ray only SKUs planned at this time. That’s not to say that Blu-rays couldn’t follow at a later date, but apparently the previous Blu-rays didn’t sell well enough to include them now, at least initially.
It could be that they simply can’t manufacture enough product before street date (replication capacity is overtaxed as it is), so by choosing to focus on 4K only at this time, they can maximize the amount of units of that SKU shipped to at least meet demand before the holidays.
