On the 4K front today, our retail sources are now telling us to expect Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar and Michael Bay’s Transformers, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, Transformers: Dark of the Moon, and Transformers: Age of Extinction on Ultra HD from Paramount on 12/5. We also now expect Ridley Scott’s Gladiator to arrive on the format sometime in March or April.
Meanwhile, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment is now expected to release Nolan’s Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, The Dark Knight Rises, and The Dark Knight Trilogy on 4K Ultra HD on 12/19.
And Sony is releasing a Groundhog Day: 25th Anniversary Edition on 4K on 1/23/18 as a Best Buy exclusive. On a related note, their Léon: The Professional 4K Ultra HD edition also goes into wide release on 12/12 – that title is currently a Best Buy exclusive. In other announcement news today, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has set November Criminals, starring Ansel Elgort and Chloë Moretz, for release on Blu-ray and DVD on 1/9/18.
Paramount Pictures has already released EPIX’s Berlin Station: Season One on DVD only. It’s now available.
Universal Studios Home Entertainment will release Allen Hughes’ The Defiant Ones on Blu-ray and DVD on 11/28.
Shout! Factory has set Trent Haaga’s 68 Kill for release on Blu-ray/DVD combo on 1/9.
Lionsgate will release the Arnold Schwarzenegger actioner Killing Gunther on Blu-ray and DVD on 12/26, along with Manhunt: The Unabomber on both formats that same day. The studio will also release Saving Christmas on DVD and Digital on 11/21.
Acorn Media will release Acceptable Risk: Series 1 on Blu-ray and DVD on 12/26.
Kino Lorber has set China Moon (1994), Code of Silence (1985), Paris Holiday (1958), Legend of the Lost (1957), Brannigan (1975), and a double feature of Platoon Leader/Soldier Boyz for Blu-ray release on 12/12, followed by The Kentuckian (1955), Valdez is Coming (1971), Betsy’s Wedding/Holy Matrimony, Big Business/Scenes from a Mall, and Four Faces West (1948) on 12/19, and The Legend of Hillbilly John (1972) on 2/20/18. Kino Lorber will also release the biopic of Native American actress Mary Thompson Fisher, Te Ata, on Blu-ray and DVD on 11/7. And the studio has Intermezzo: A Love Story (1939), The Wild Heart: Roadshow Edition (1952), and The Garden of Allah (1936) coming soon to Blu-ray and DVD.
Meanwhile, Film Rise will release The Good Postman on Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital HD on 11/14.
And Time Life has set a 22-disc The Red Skelton Hour in Color: Deluxe Edition DVD box set for release on 11/7.
Also, for you UK readers, Curzon Artificial Eye is going to be re-issuing its Sculpting Time: The Andrei Tarkovsky Collection Blu-ray set in standard edition packaging in the UK on 12/4. The Deluxe Edition of this set has already sold out. The standard edition is expected to include all 7 films plus the bonus disc, minus the collectable packaging (and likely minus the collector’s book too).
