All right, we’ve got a couple more disc reviews and some news updates for you today...

First up, Tim has posted his thoughts on Scream Factory’s new Collector’s Edition Blu-ray release of John Carpenter’s Vampires.

And Dennis has take a look at Billy Wilder’s The Major and the Minor on Blu-ray, a Paramount title from Arrow Academy.

Also, I’m working on reviews of Pan’s Labyrinth, The Shining, and Toy Story 4, all in 4K. And again, I’ll post Guardians of the Galaxy, Ant-Man, and Doctor Strange in 4K as soon as the discs arrive from the Disney Movie Club.

Speaking of the DMC, we’ve learned that the studio has pulled The Black Hole on Blu-ray from their online store. The reason is that they’re fixing the disc to correct for the authoring error that prevents you from seeing the film’s Overture (see our review of the Blu-ray here). [Read on here...]

The fixed discs are expected to be available on the store again starting on 10/14. And if you’re a Club member and you ordered the disc (and got a bad copy) you’ll be able to request a replacement from their customer service. Just FYI.

In other news today, Warner has set The Kitchen for release on Blu-ray and DVD on 11/5, with the Digital release due on 10/22.

Shout Factory TV is kicking off the month of October tonight with a 31 Nights of Horror nightly livestream of classic horror titles. Tune in tonight at 7PM Eastern to ShoutFactoryTV.com (or their app on Roku, Amazon, Android, and Apple TV).

Sony has announced a new Blu-ray and Digital 4K HDR release of The Swan Princess in honor of the animated film’s 25th anniversary. Look for both to debut on 10/29.

Sony is also releasing Victor Kossakovsky’s Aquaria on Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital on 11/12.

Paramount has set Dora and the Lost City of Gold for release on Blu-ray and DVD on 11/19, with the Digital release expected on 11/5.

Well Go USA is releasing Jason Kim’s The Diving Fury on Blu-ray and Digital on 11/19.

And for you 4K fans, here’s something interesting: We’ve learned that Ari Aster’s Midsommar is going to be released in 4K Ultra HD in Italy on November 13 by a company called Eagle Pictures. Here’s a link to the Amazon Italy listing for the title. No word yet about any other releases of the film in 4K, but keep in mind that even if the BD in the case is region-locked, the 4K will work worldwide. We do not know, however, if there will be English subtitles (for the Swedish dialogue). Thanks to Bits reader Eran E. for the spot!

That’s all for now. Back tomorrow with more. Stay tuned...
