Morning, folks!  Well… I’m off to the dentist today, so this post is going to be a quick one.  However… we do have a couple fun things for you here at The Bits this morning.

First, our own Tim Salmons has turned in another Criterion Blu-ray Disc review, and this one’s a classic: 1923’s Safety Last! starring Harold Lloyd.  Enjoy!   [Read on here…]

Also today, the illustrious Michael Coate has delivered another excellent History, Legacy and Showmanship column featuring a look back at the very first CinemaScope film, The Robe, on the occasion of its 60th Anniversary.  Michael talks about the history of the film, its initial screenings and even offers a great roundtable interview on the topic as well, so don’t miss it!

And in announcement news today, Magnolia Home Entertainment has officially set the sci-fi horror film Europa Report for release on Blu-ray Disc and DVD on 10/8 (SRP $29.98 and $26.98).  Extras will include deleted scenes, a Visual Effects featurette and the film’s theatrical trailer.  Here’s a look at the Blu-ray Disc and DVD cover artwork, as well as BD art for Sony’s Grown Ups 2 (due 11/5).  All three are now available for pre-order on Amazon.com by clicking on the cover artwork…
