Well… the response to my Star Trek and Blu-ray 4K columns of the past couple days has been very positive and positively overwhelming! I’ve gotten tons of e-mails and messages about both topics and I’m going to do my best to get back to everyone but it might take a few days.

Meanwhile today, the esteemed Dr. Jahnke has reviewed a classic and iconic David Lynch film on Blu-ray from Criterion… the long-awaited Eraserhead. Some of you longtime readers might recall that, ten or fifteen years ago, there was talk of the film coming to Criterion on DVD, but it failed to materialize. It’s now part of the Collection at least and it sounds as if they’ve really hit it out of the park. Don’t miss it.  [Read on here…]

Our own Tim Salmons has also turned in a Blu-ray review of another Charles Bronson anti-heroic turn from the 1970s… Mr. Majestyk, now available from Kino Lorber.

In announcement news today, BBC Home Entertainment has set Doctor Who: The Complete Eighth Series for Blu-ray and DVD release on 12/9 (SRP $99.98 and $79.98).

Scream has also set The Doctor and the Devils for Blu-ray release on 11/14. Extras are TBA.

Shout! Factory has set Hart to Hart: The Complete Third Season for DVD only release on 12/9.

Icarus Films has set Chris Marker’s Level Five for DVD and digital release on 10/7. Looking forward to that one – should be interesting.

Millennium Films will release Are You Here, starring Amy Poehler, Owen Wilson, and Zach Galifianakis, on Blu-ray and DVD on 9/30.

Phase 4 Films has set A Merry Friggin’ Christmas for Blu-ray and DVD release on 11/25 (SRP $19.99), starring Joel McHale and Robin Williams.

Carlotta Films will release Leos Carax’s Boy Meets Girl on Blu-ray and DVD on 11/18.

Image will release Drive Hard, starring John Cusack and Thomas Jane, on Blu-ray and DVD on 11/11.

And for music fans, Eagle Rock Entertainment has set Genesis: Three Sides Live for Blu-ray and DVD release on 11/4 (SRP $19.98 and $14.98). The concert was shot on 16mm film in 1981, during the band’s Abacab tour of North America. It’s previously only been available in the limited edition The Movie Box 1981-2007 set.

Finally today, MGM has revealed the Blu-ray and DVD re-release (this past Tuesday – 9/9) of 13 classic horror titles, repeat with new cover artwork created by the Canadian art group Skuzzles (visit their website here). All right, we’ll leave you with a look at the cover artwork for Level Five, Doctor Who, and four of the MGM titles we just mentioned (we’ll add the MGM order links as soon as we can find them – they don’t appear to be up on Amazon yet)…
