Big news today, Bits readers! But first, some local business...

Our very own Tim Salmons has turned in a pair of new Blu-ray reviews, featuring Carl Reiner’s comedy classic The Man with Two Brains now available on disc from the Warner Archive, and also the ooky-gooey Italian terror of Joe D’Amato’s Beyond the Darkness from Severin Films. Do give them both a look. (But if you’re barf-sensitive, the latter might be a test of your constitution. FYI.)

Also here today, Russell Hammond has posted the weekly update of the Release Dates & Cover Artwork section, featuring all of the latest Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD cover art and Amazon.com pre-order links. As always, whenever you order literally anything from Amazon after clicking through one of our links, you’re helping to support our work here at The Bits and we really do appreciate it! Now then... the big news: Sony Pictures Home Entertainment and Marvel have just set Spider-Man: Homecoming for Blu-ray, Blu-ray 3D, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD release on 10/17, with the Digital HD release expected on 9/26. Here’s good news: The 4K Ultra HD release will include the film with Dolby Vision HDR and Dolby Atmos audio. 4K extras will include The Spidey Study Guide and a Photo Gallery. Blu-ray extras will include those, plus 10 Deleted Scenes, a Gag Reel, 7 featurettes (A Tangled Web, Searching for Spider-Man, Spidey Stunts, Aftermath, The Vulture Takes Flight, Jon Watts: Head of the Class, and Pros and Cons of Spider-Man), plus the Rappin’ with Cap: Captain America PSAs. You can see the final cover artwork above-left and below and it’s available for pre-order now on Amazon (including 3D!).

Not done with big news yet: Disney and Pixar have just officially announced the Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD release of the CG-animated Cars 3 on 11/7, with the Digital HD & 4K versions due on 10/24. Audio on 4K UHD BD will be Dolby Atmos with (it appears) HDR-10 High Dynamic Range on the 4K disc and Dolby Vision on the 4K Digital version. Extras on the Blu-ray SKUs will include audio commentary (with Brian Fee, Kevin Reher, Andrea Warren, and Jay Ward – the directors and producers), 5 Deleted Scenes, the Miss Fritter’s Racing Skoool exclusive mini-movie, the Lou theatrical short, 8 featurettes (Let’s. Get. Crazy., Legendary, Ready for the Race, World’s Fastest Billboard, Cruz Ramirez: The Yellow Car That Could, Generations: The Story of Cars 3, My First Car, and Cars to Die(cast) For). You can see the cover art below. Not sure when Amazon pre-orders will go live though, because they’re in an on-going pissing match with Disney. LAME!

Also, this isn’t release news per-se, but today marks the 25th anniversary of Batman: The Animated Series, which debuted on September 5th, 1992 on Fox Kids. It’s still the greatest Batman ever, as far as I’m concerned, and I have only one other thing to say about it today: It needs a Blu-ray release dammit! Let Warner Home Entertainment know via social media today (via Facebook and Twitter) – who knows, maybe they’ll get the message.

Now then... speaking of Warner, Blade Runner: The Final Cut streets today on 4K Ultra HD. Those of you who pick up a copy (you can do so here) are in for a real treat. A quick note: We’ve been told that Warner has changed the disc configuration in the final product copies so that the Dangerous Days documentary is now included on a Blu-ray Disc (but still not in HD). Just don’t be surprised if you get your copy of the disc and the configuration is a bit different than early reviews. We’ll update our own review (here) as soon as we have the details.

We’re going to have another big 4K title announcement for you tomorrow here at The Bits, so be sure to check back early AM. In the meantime, we’ll leave you with a look at new Blu-ray and 4K cover artwork for some of the titles mentioned above and more...

Spider-Man: Homecoming (Blu-ray Disc) Spider-Man: Homecoming (Blu-ray 3D) Spider-Man: Homecoming (4K Ultra HD)

Humans 2.0 (Blu-ray Disc) Planet of the Apes Trilogy (Blu-ray Disc) Cars 3 (4K Ultra HD)

Back tomorrow AM! Stay tuned...
