The big news today is that Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment has just set M. Night Shayamalan’s Trap (2024) for release on Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD on 11/5, with the Digital release expected on 8/30. Extras on the 4K will include 2 featurettes (Setting the Trap: A New M. Night Shayamalan Experience and Saleka as Lady Raven), as well as 3 deleted scenes, and an extended concert scene. The press release doesn’t indicate the A/V specs, but it’s reasonable to expect Dolby Atmos audio and HDR10 high dynamic range.

Here’s something pretty terrific: Severin Films has just a 13-disc All the Haunts Be Ours: A Compendium of Folk Horror – Volume Two box set for release on 11/12. The set includes 24 international folks horror classics, with 55+ hours of extras, and a 252-page hardcover of new folk horror fiction. [Read on here...]

And if I misspelled any of those, my apologies!

That’s a pretty extraordinary list of unique international films that I would wager most people haven’t seen. Tip of the hat to Severin for what looks like a great release. Here’s what it looks like (clicking on the image will take you directly to Severin's online store)…

All the Haunts Be Ours: Volume 2 (Blu-ray box set)

Also today, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has just set The Crown: Season 6 for release on Blu-ray and DVD on 9/17. A Complete Series Collector’s Box Set will also be available on Blu-ray on 10/15. Extras on Season 6 will include a trio of featurettes (A Family Saga, Royal Weddings, and A Lasting Legacy).

Shout! Studios and Scream Factory will release Bryan Bertino’s The Strangers (2008) on 4K Ultra HD on 9/10.

Per retail sources, Paramount will release Reacher: Season 2 on 4K Ultra HD on 9/17. The Blu-ray and DVD SKUs are already announced to street that day.

Here’s something interesting: It appears that European retailers are starting to hint that Michael Curtiz’s White Christmas (1954) is coming to 4K Ultra HD in time for the holidays. However, it’s important to keep in mind that this is a Paramount title and we don’t know if it might be impacted by the recent cuts in Home Entertainment at the studio.

Here’s something else that’s interesting for TV fans: Universal’s own website suggests that the early aughts NBC TV drama Las Vegas: The Complete Series (2003-2008) is coming to Blu-ray and DVD on 10/8. However, the retail listings I can find thus far only suggest DVD.

Crunchyroll will release Gorō Taniguchi’s One Piece Film: Red (2022) on 4K Ultra HD Steelbook on 11/5.

Film Movement is about to release new 4K restorations of Lee Chang-dong films to Digital platforms, including Green Fish (1996), Peppermint Candy (1999), Oasis (2002), and Poetry (2010).

And for you music fans, Mercury Studios will release Def Leppard: One Night Only Live at the Leadmill Sheffield – May 19, 2023 on CD, DVD + CD, Blu-ray + CD, and 2-disc LP on 10/11.

Finally today, the Criterion November slate of 4K Ultra HD titles (and the CC40 Blu-ray box set) are finally starting to become live for pre-order on Amazon.com, so here’s the cover artwork for those again (plus a few other titles, all with the relevant pre-order links)...

CC40 (Blu-ray Box Set)

Seven Samurai (4K Ultra HD) Godzilla (4K Ultra HD) The Shape of Water (4K Ultra HD)

Scarface (4K Ultra HD) Funny Girl (4K Ultra HD) Paper Moon (4K Ultra HD)

One Piece Film: Red (4K Ultra HD) House of the Dragon: The Complete Second Season (4K Ultra HD Steelbook) House of the Dragon: The Complete Second Season (4K Ultra HD)

That’s all for now. Have a great weekend everyone!

Stay tuned...
