So… have any of you guys seen Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy yet? I can’t say that I have, but Dr. Jahnke, Tim Salmons and a number of other Bits staffers took the ride this past weekend and say the film is pretty darned terrific. We’re getting that report from lots of Bits readers too. So if you want a great and fun summer blockbuster that’s good for adults, but that you can take the kids to as well, it sounds like this is the one. I’ll be going in the next couple days.

Here at The Bits today, our very own Dr. Adam Jahnke is holding court at some length on the subject of CBS’ new Twin Peaks: The Entire Mystery Blu-ray release. You will be quite pleased to hear that it’s a darn fine cup of coffee, with a pretty good slice of cherry pie on the side. Don’t miss his review.  [Read on here…]

By the way, at CBS’ special theatrical screening of The Missing Pieces from Fire Walk with Me a couple weeks ago (which are included in this set for the very first time), David Lynch himself stood up and introduced the footage with a few wise comments. We thought you might get a kick out of hearing what he had to say. So here it is...

In announcement news today, Universal has set The Signal for Blu-ray and DVD release on 9/23 (SRP $34.98 and $29.98).

Lionsgate has listed a Stargate: 20th Anniversary Edition for release on Blu-ray on 10/28. You can pre-order it here on Amazon for just $10. We have no idea as yet whether or not there’s new content.

Lionsgate has also set Obvious Child for Blu-ray and DVD release on 10/7.

Kino Lorber will release The First Power, Billion Dollar Brain, and True Confessions on Blu-ray on 10/7, followed by Last Embrace, Desperately Seeking Susan, and Married to the Mob on 10/14, and Gorky Park, The Naked Face, To All a Goodnight on 10/21. SRP is $29.95 each.

Viz Media will release Gargantia: The Complete Series on Blu-ray on 10/7 (SRP $69.98).

Finally, Asylum Gaiam will release Sharknado 2: The Second One on Blu-ray and DVD on 10/7.

And that’s all we’ve got for you for now! We’ll leave you with a look at the Blu-ray cover artwork for Universal’s The Signal, Lionsgate’s From Dusk Til Dawn, The Faculty, The Children of the Corn Collection, and The Hellraiser Collection (all due 10/7), and PBS' Downton Abbey: Seasons 1-4 (TBA)...

The Signal (Blu-ray Disc)    From Dusk to Dawn (Blu-ray Disc)    The Faculty (Blu-ray Disc)

The Hellraiser 4-Film Collection (Blu-ray Disc)    The Children of the Corn Collection (Blu-ray Disc)    Downton Abbey: Seasons 1-4 (Blu-ray Disc)

Stay tuned!
