Blu-ray News: Pixels pre-orders, The Editor, new Kino Lorber, Twilight’s August 8/11 BD slate & more

Let’s kick things off today with a pair of new Blu-ray reviews, shall we? Tim has given a pair of recent titles from Criterion a look in lovely, 1080p high-definition, including Charlie Chaplin’s Limelight (1952) and Jaromil Jireš’ Valerie and Her Week of Wonders (1970). Both are now available on the format from Criterion and are well worth your attention. [Read on here…]

In announcement news today, Scream Factory will release Adam Brooks and Matthew Kennedy’s The Editor on Blu-ray and DVD on 9/8. It will include audio commentary by Brooks, Kennedy and Connor Sweeney, the Making Movies Used to be Fun documentary, music and poster featurettes, the Astron-6 film festival introduction, and deleted scenes.

Dito Montiel’s Boulevard, which is one of the last few films due to star Robin Williams, has been set for Blu-ray and DVD release on 9/1.

Amazon is currently taking pre-orders for the Blu-ray 3D, Blu-ray and DVD release of Sony’s Pixels, which is now in theaters.

Lionsgate has announced the Blu-ray and DVD release of Heist, starring Hayden Christensen and Adrien Brody, on 9/8, followed by What We Did on Our Holiday for DVD only release on 10/6.

Anchor Bay Entertainment has set Northmen: A Viking Saga for release on Blu-ray, DVD and digital on 8/11, followed by Golden Shoes on DVD only on 10/6.

Cult Epics has Angst coming on Blu-ray and DVD on 10/13.

Kino Lorber has revealed that they’re bringing Ken Russell’s Valentino (1977) to Blu-ray soon, along with Ki-duk Kim’s Yongary, Monster from the Deep (1967), Dan Milner’s The Phantom from 10,000 Leagues (1955), and Aaron Norris’ Delta Force 2 (1990). They’re also investigating a possible audio-sync issue on their recent Blu-ray of Madhouse (1974) – you can see this post on their Facebook page for further details.

And Magnolia Home Entertainment is releasing White God on Blu-ray, DVD and digital tomorrow, 7/28.

Also, don’t forget that on Wednesday (7/28 at 1 PM Pacific) all of Twilight Time’s 8/11 Blu-ray slate titles are going up for pre-order on Twilight Time Movies.com, TCM Shop, and Screen Archives Entertainment.
