While we’re on the topic of 4K Ultra HD, Universal has just made a title that we first revealed here at The Bits recently official: Monty Python’s The Meaning of Life is coming to the format on 9/13 and it’s up for pre-order now on Amazon. You can see the cover artwork below. The film was directed by Terry Jones. Look for the 4K UHD to include DTS-X sound, with HDR10 high dynamic range and all the legacy Blu-ray extras.

By the way, retail sources are telling us to expect Jordan Peele’s Nope to arrive on Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD on 10/18 from Universal.

And the studio has also set Rob Zombie’s The Munsters (2022) for release on Blu-ray and DVD on 9/27. Again, you can see the cover art below.

Meanwhile, Imprint Films has just announced their October Blu-ray slate, which is set to include Lynne Littman’s Testament (1984), John G. Avildsen’s Save the Tiger (1973), Martin Ritt’s The Molly Maguires (1970), Ted Kotcheff’s North Dallas Forty (1979), Louis Malle’s Pretty Baby (1978), Daniel Mann’s Come Back, Little Sheba (1952) and The Rose Tattoo (1955), and finally Buzz Kulik’s Warning Shot (1967). All are Paramount titles and the discs should be all-region. You can read more about these (and pre-order the titles) here at the Imprint website.

Also today, Screen Archives Entertainment has just set Domenico Paolella’s 1972 “nunploitation” title The Nun and The Devil (aka Le monache di Sant’Arcangelo) for release on Blu-ray on 11/8.

Mill Creek Entertainment will release another trio of Retro VHS catalog Blu-ray titles on 10/4, including The Paper (1994), The Replacement Killers (1998), and The Cure (1995).

Lionsgate will release Paradise Highway on 9/6 and Cave Rescue on 9/13, both on Blu-ray Disc.

Vinegar Syndrome has set the wide 4K Ultra HD release of Miami Connection (1987) for 8/30 (the limited edition SKU came out via their website on 5/27).

And Severin Films will release The Incredibly Strange Films of Ray Dennis Steckler Collector’s Set on Blu-ray on 9/27, featuring 20 films on 10 discs.

Finally today, if you’re a Star Wars fan you’re definitely going to want to check this out: Vice TV is now streaming a new series called Icons Unearthed by producer/director Brian Volk-Weiss, who was responsible for The Toys That Made Us and The Movies That Made Us. The first season is a 6-episode look at the making of the George Lucas-produced Star Wars films, featuring the first ever on camera interview with Marcia Lucas, who edited the film (and who was George’s wife at the time). Also interviewed are such luminaries as Anthony Daniels, Billy Dee Williams, Paul Hirsch, Phil Tippett, Rick Baker, Ken Ralston, John Dykstra, Howard Kazanjian, Julian Glover, and Ian McDiarmid, along with collector Gus Lopez, and Regal Robot founder Tom Spina. The series features two episodes on the making of the original film, an episode each on Empire and Jedi, and the rest of the series looks at the more recent prequel films. I’ve seen those first two and they’re pretty terrific, offering a behind-the-scenes perspective that we haven’t really seen before—one that complements other great Star Wars documentaries (like Kevin Burns’ Empire of Dreams) nicely. It’s even narrated by Michael Pennington, who played Moff Jerjerrod in Return of the Jedi. The series is well worth your time, so be sure to give it a look.
