Meanwhile today, Paramount will release the Amazon Prime original series Jack Ryan: Season Two on Blu-ray and DVD on 8/4.
Film Movement has just announced the 8/11 Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital release of director Zhang Yimou’s 1995 classic Shanghai Triad (SRP $29.95 and $19.95 for the discs). This is the first time the film has been made available on Blu-ray in the US. Extras will include the Trouble in Shanghai video essay and a new booklet with text essay by film critic John Berra. Our friends at the excellent Dawn of the Discs website have uncovered (via a pre-announcement listing on a French retail website), that Warner Bros. Home Entertainment is getting ready to release The Flintstones: The Complete Series, a Bugs Bunny 80th Anniversary Collection, and Superman: The Animated Series on Blu-ray, likely in September or October.
On a related note, one can almost certainly expect our friends at The Warner Archive Collection to officially announce these titles next Saturday at their official Comic-Con at Home panel. Warner Archive’s Secret Origins of Saturday Morning Cartoons panel will be live-streamed for free on Saturday, 7/25, from 10-11 AM Pacific at this link on YouTube. Leonard Maltin, Jerry Beck, and our old friend George Feltenstein will all be on hand for the event, so be sure to tune in.

Also today, Warner will release Cats & Dogs 3: Paws Unite on Blu-ray and DVD on 10/6, with the Digital release due on 9/8.
Shout! Factory has announced the Shout Select Blu-ray release of Spike Jonze’s 2002 comedy Adaptation on 10/20. Extras are still TBA.
In addition, Shout! and Scream have moved their Event Horizon: Collector’s Edition Blu-ray to January 5 2021 (as the pandemic is causing delays for the production).
Shout! and GKids will also release new Steelbook Blu-ray editions of Hayao Miyazaki’s My Neighbor Totoro and Princess Mononoke on 10/20.
Kino Classics has set William Wyler’s The Shakedown (1929) for release on Blu-ray and DVD on 7/28, mastered from a new 4K scan and restoration.
RLJE Films has set the documentary You Don’t Nomi for release on Blu-ray and DVD on 7/21. The film explores the release, flop, and later cult-film resurrection of Paul Verhoeven’s Showgirls (1995).
And Blue Underground has set Jess Franco’s Cecilia for release on Blu-ray on 8/25, restored from the uncut and uncensored original negative.
Now then, in a film adjacent note, if you’re as big a fan of James Mangold’s recent Ford v Ferrari as I am (read my review of the 4K here), I’ve got a book recommendation for you. Be sure to check out A.J. Baime’s absolutely terrific Go Like Hell, which is a true account of the famous 1960s Ford/Ferrari motorsports rivalry and a great look at what actually happened at the Le Mans 66 race in the words of the real people who were there. I have to tell you, it’s a damn great read; I burned through it in a few hours—I couldn’t put it down. You can get it on paperback for $14 and the Kindle book is just $9.
