BREAKING: Disney makes M. Night Shyamalan’s UNBREAKABLE official for 4K Ultra HD on 9/21

We’ve got an early My Two Cents post for you this morning here at The Bits with a bit of breaking 4K news...

Disney Media & Entertainment Distribution has just officially announced that director M. Night Shyamalan’s Unbreakable (2000) will be released on physical 4K Ultra HD and 4K Digital on September 21st.

The film stars Bruce Willis, Samuel L. Jackson, Robin Wright Penn, Spencer Treat Clark, and Charlayne Woodard.

Unbreakable joins Shyamalan’s Split (2016) and Glass (2019)—both of which have been released previously on Ultra HD by Universal—thus completing the director’s Eastrail 177 Trilogy on the format. [Read on here...]

Billed as an Ultimate Collector’s Edition, the 4K Ultra HD release of Unbreakable will include HDR10 high dynamic range and audio in English 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio, English 2.0 Descriptive Audio, and Spanish and French 5.1 Dolby Digital. Subtitles will be available in English SDH, Spanish, and French.

Best Buy will carry an exclusive Steelbook edition of the title, which will be available for pre-order on August 10th.

Note that Disney is also still working on 4K Ultra HD releases of Michael Mann’s Heat (1995)—a 20th Century Studios title—and Robert Zemeckis’ Who Framed Roger Rabbit (1988), but the street dates for both are still TBA. One or both could still be released this year, but it’s also possible that they could slip into early 2022.
