Also today, Amazon is now taking pre-orders for Paramount’s Jack Ryan: 5-Film Collection on 4K Ultra HD, with a street date of 8/21 (SRP $69.99 but Amazon hasn’t yet added their sale price). We believe that all of those films save for Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit were finished on film and scanned in full native 4K, so they should look terrific. FYI, we believe these films will all be released as singles too, but simply haven’t been listed on Amazon yet.
Amazon is also now taking pre-orders for Ridley Scott’s Robin Hood on 4K Ultra HD with a street date of 9/11 (SRP $29.98). That film too appears to have been finished in full native 4K and the packaging indicates that it will have DTS-X object based audio.

Also today... we’ve learned that the Warner Archive is going to be hosting a Batman: The Animated Series on Blu-ray panel at Comic-Con on Saturday 7/21 (from 4:15 to 5:15 in Room 6DE). They’re expected to officially unveil the Blu-ray set there, which is expected to street around the end of the year. On hand for the panel will be producers Bruce Timm, Paul Dini, Alan Burnett, and Eric Radomski; eight-time Emmy Award-winning voice director Andrea Romano; and voice actors Kevin Conroy, Tara Strong, and Loren Lester. We’ll have all the details on the Blu-ray set for you as soon as they come in. But if you’re in San Diego on Saturday, that’s a panel worth attending.
Finally today, our friends at The Criterion Collection have just officially revealed their massive Ingmar Bergman’s Cinema Blu-ray box set (SRP $299.95) for release on 11/20, in honor of the filmmaker’s 100th birthday. This 30-disc set will include a stunning 39 films, representing the single most comprehensive Bergman collection ever assembled. From Criterion’s announcement: “Arranged as a film festival with opening and closing nights bookending double features and centerpieces, this selection spans six decades and thirty-nine films—including such celebrated classics as The Seventh Seal, Persona, and Fanny and Alexander alongside previously unavailable works like Dreams, The Rite, and Brink of Life. Accompanied by a 248-page book with essays on each program, as well as by more than thirty hours of supplemental features, Ingmar Bergman’s Cinema traces themes and images across Bergman’s career, blazing trails through the master’s unequaled body of work for longtime fans and newcomers alike.”
