We’ve got some good stuff for you today, folks!

First though, our own Russell Hammond has updated the Release Dates & Artwork section with all the latest Blu-ray, DVD and Video Game cover artwork and Amazon.com order links.  As always, a portion of anything you order from Amazon in the same session after clicking through our links goes to help support our work here at The Bits and we really appreciate it!

Our own Dr. Jahnke has also turned in his latest installment of Burnt Offerings today, running down all the latest MOD, DVD-R and limited edition/small batch release news.  He also addresses in detail some of the many current user complaints about the various online movie streaming services, and he reviews Warner Archive’s new Kids in the Hall: Brain Candy on MOD DVD-R.  It’s well worth a read for his thoughts on streaming especially, so definitely don’t miss it!

Also, Amazon.com is blowing out Fox’s Alien Anthology Blu-ray box set for just $20 for today only.  That’s a flat-out ridiculous price.  Get ‘em while you can.

Now then… we’re still waiting to hear back on Dark Knight Trilogy details and certain other titles, but we’ve officially confirmed with Warner Home Video that Philip Kaufman’s The Right Stuff will be released on Blu-ray Disc before the end of the year.  As many of you know, this is the film’s 30th anniversary and it’s just a damn classic that deserves to be seen in HD.  Do watch for details and announcements in the weeks ahead.

Also, Kino Lorber has announced their September release slate, set to include the “lost View Askew film” Drawing Flies: Anniversary Edition (BD & DVD) on 9/10, Easy Rider: The Ride Back (DVD) on 9/17 and He’s Way More Famous Than You (DVD) on 9/24 for their Horizon Movies label, Violeta Went to Heaven (DVD) on 9/3 and Radio Unnameable (DVD) on 9/10 for their Kino Lorber label, Mario Bava’s A Bay of Blood: Remastered Edition and 5 Dollars for an August Moon: Remastered Edition (each on BD and DVD) on 9/3 followed by The Devil Bat: Remastered Edition (BD & DVD) on 9/17 for their Kino Classics label, and Hidden in the Woods (DVD) on 9/17 under their Artsploitation label.

Finally, Twilight Time has released the cover artwork for several of their upcoming limited edition Blu-ray releases – now available at TCM Shop – including Sexy Beast, The Disappearance, The Driver, Sleepless in Seattle and Love Is a Many Splendored Thing.  See them all here and/or here.

And in other news, Amazon has apparently filed a patent for “DVD-type bonus content” on e-books.  Fascinating.  More here from Wired.

Here’s a look at the cover artwork for Shout!’s The Eagle Has Landed (due 10/15), Lionsgate’s Redemption (9/10) and Universal’s Tremors Attack Pack (9/17)…

The Eagle Has Landed (Blu-ray Disc)    Redemption (Blu-ray Disc)    Tremors Attack Pack (Blu-ray Disc)

Stay tuned!
