Here at The Bits today, our own Todd Doogan has just turned in a new review of Criterion’s fine The Samurai Trilogy box on Blu-ray Disc.  They’re great films, worthy of any fan of the genre.  Criterion’s done a nice job on them as always, so don’t miss them!

In other news today, 20th Century Fox has set Danny Boyle’s Trance for release on Blu-ray and DVD on 7/23.  The Blu-ray will include deleted scenes, 7 featurettes (The Power of Suggestion: Making Trance, Kick Off, Danny’s Film Noir, Hypnotherapy, The Look, The Final Rewrite and Danny Boyle Retrospective), along with Spencer Susser’s short film Eugene, the theatrical trailer, the Trance Unraveled Easter egg and a UltraViolent digital copy.  See the cove art below.

Fox has also set Leverage: Season Five for DVD only release on 9/17.

Meanwhile, Sony has set Sebastián Silva’s Magic Magic for release on DVD only on 8/6.  Also coming that day from Sony and producers Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh is the documentary West of Memphis on both Blu-ray and DVD.

PBS Distribution has set America’s Test Kitchen: Season 13 for DVD only release on 7/16.

And Image and RLJ Entertainment have set For Richer or Poorer for DVD only release on 7/9.

Here’s a look at the Blu-ray Disc cover artwork for Fox’s Trance, Criterion’s 3 Films by Roberto Rossellini Starring Ingrid Bergman (due 9/24) and Kino’s The Bird with the Crystal Plumage (9/10)…
