All right, we’ve got a couple things for you today here at The Bits

First up, the good Dr. Jahnke has posted a new Burnt Offerings column featuring an update on all the latest MOD/DVD-R release news from Warner Archive and others.  He’s also reviewed another new DVD-R title from Warner Archive – The Decks Ran Red.  Do check it out.

Also today, Mario has turned in a new Inside Cinema column with a look at Disney’s newly-updated D23 website.  If you’re into Disney history – not to mention The Muppets and other Disney-related content (eventually to include Star Wars franchise material as well) – it’s worth checking out.

And our own Russell Hammond has updated the Release Dates & Artwork section with all the latest Blu-ray, DVD and Video Game cover artwork and Amazon.com pre-order links.  As always, a portion of anything you order from Amazon after clicking through to them from our links goes to help support our work here at The Bits and we really do appreciate it!

Speaking of Amazon, the retailer is now taking pre-orders for Universal’s Fast & Furious 6 on Blu-ray and DVD, along with Sony’s Olympus Has Fallen on Blu-ray and DVD and Warner’s The Great Gatsby (2013) on Blu-ray 3D, Blu-ray and DVD.  The Great Gatsby is unofficially set for release on 8/27, while the other titles don’t have street dates listed yet.

Now then… in announcement news today, Warner Home Video has set Paramount’s Airplane II: The Sequel and Internal Affairs for release on Blu-ray Disc on 10/8 (SRP $19.98 each).

Sony continues to insist that their long-delayed Ishtar is finally coming to Blu-ray and DVD on 8/6.  Sony has also set Robert Redford’s The Company You Keep for Blu-ray and DVD release on 8/13.

Meanwhile, Sony has also added The Barrendero, Conserje En Condominio, Harriet Craig (1950), Babies for Sale, The Whole Truth, Brave Warrior, Don Quijote Cabalga de Nuevo and Franklin & Bash: The Complete Second Season to their MOD DVD-R release slate on 8/6, followed by Walk on the Wild Side, Have Rocket, Will Travel, Homicidal, The Family Secret, 13 Frightened Girls, Rockin’ in the Rockies, The Werewolf (1956), Vampire Bats and Happy Endings: The Complete Third Season on 9/2.

And Twilight Time is now taking pre-orders (over on Screen Archives Entertainment) for limited Blu-ray editions of Sleepless in Seattle and Love Is a Many-Splendored Thing.  Both have planned ship dates of 7/9 and are limited to 3,000 units each.

For you Terminator fans, there’s a new Kickstarter project some of you might be interested in which is an effort to create a videogame emulation of the classic T2 pinball gameClick here to check it out.

Finally, we’d like to take a moment to acknowledge the passing of author Richard Matheson, whose written works included I Am Legend, The Last Man on Earth, The Omega Man and many others.  More here at NPR.

Here’s a look at the cover artwork for Warner’s The Haunting and In the Mouth of Madness (both due 10/15), as well as Twilight’s Sleepless in Seattle
