Twilight Time’s September BD slate, plus Ken Burns’ Vietnam War & more new title announcements

We’ve got some more release news today, but first another new review...

Tim has checked out Dario Argento’s The Bird with the Crystal Plumage, as newly-released on Blu-ray by Arrow Films. It’s a fine edition and well worth your time, so do check it out Tim’s review.

In announcement news today, our friends at Twilight Time have unveiled their September Blu-ray slate, which is set to include September (1987), Hour of the Gun (1967), Lawman (1971), Beneath the Twelve Mile Reef (1953), and Gun Fury 3D (1953), all on 9/19. Also, their August slate will include 8 Heads in a Duffle Bag (1997), Kid Galahad (1962), The Long, Hot Summer (1958), Suddenly, Last Summer (1959), and The Emperor in August (2015), all on 8/15. A reminder: Their July titles will go on pre-order on 7/5 at 1 PM Pacific on Twilight Time Movies and Screen Archives Entertainment (for a 7/18 street date) and will include a double feature of Tom Sawyer (1973) and Huckleberry Finn (1974), Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Sex* (*but were afraid to ask) (1972), State Fair (1962), and The Crimson Kimono (1959). Also today, Kino Lorber has revealed that it’s working on Night Angel (1990) for Blu-ray and DVD release in October.

Synapse Films is working on new Blu-ray releases of The Creep Behind The Camera/The Creeping Terror and Dario Argento’s Phenomena for release on 9/12. You can see the cover artwork below.

PBS Distribution has officially set Ken Burns and Lynn Novick’s The Vietnam War documentary series for Blu-ray and DVD release on 9/19.

Lionsgate Home Entertainment has announced The Wedding Plan for DVD release on 9/5, with a Digital HD release due on 8/22. The studio has also set the war film The Wall for release on Blu-ray and DVD on 8/15, with Digital HD due on 8/1. And they have the science fiction thriller Kill Switch coming on Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital HD on 8/22.

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has set S.W.A.T.: Under Siege for release on Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital HD on 8/1.

On the TV front, CBS Home Entertainment and Paramount Home Media Distribution have just set Scorpion: Season Three for DVD only release on 9/12, followed by Madam Secretary: Season Three on DVD only on 9/19.

Gravitas Ventures and CNN Films will release Greg Barker’s documentary Legion of Brothers on Blu-ray and DVD on 6/27.

Umbrella Entertainment in Australia has announced a new Blu-ray double feature of Kadaicha (1988) and Innocent Prey (1984).

By the way, it looks like Best Buy is going to have a retail-exclusive Steelbook version of Warner’s Kong: Skull Island that includes 4K, Blu-ray, Blu-ray 3D and Digital HD. You can see that here. Thanks to Bits reader Bill M. for the heads-up on it.
