Speaking of Warner Archive, the company has just announced a trio of great new Blu-ray titles that are coming soon, including The Thin Man (1934 – mastered from a new 4K scan of the best archival elements), Bronco Billy (1980), and Merrill’s Marauders (1962). If the first sells well, we expect additional Thin Man films to follow in the months ahead.
Warner will also release Manifest: Season One on DVD only on 7/23.
Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has set The Intruder for release on Blu-ray and DVD on 7/30, with the Digital release due on 7/19. The film stars Dennis Quaid. Sony is also releasing the Timeless: Season Two Finale on DVD only on 7/11.
20th Century Fox Home Entertainment has set Missing Link for Blu-ray and DVD release on 7/23.
Fox’s The Orville: Season Two has also appeared for release on DVD only on Amazon, but the street date is still TBA. You can pre-order it here and also below.
Lionsgate has set The Survivor for Blu-ray and DVD release on 6/6. The company will also release Long Shot on Blu-ray and DVD on 7/30. Best Buy is currently showing a 4K Ultra HD release that same day, but we’ve yet to see it confirmed elsewhere.
HBO has set True Detective: The Complete Third Season for release on Blu-ray and DVD on 9/3.
Speaking of HBO, Amazon is also now taking pre-orders on their Chernobyl miniseries on Blu-ray and DVD, street date TBA. You can pre-order it here. There’s no sign yet of HBO’s Deadwood: The Movie on Blu-ray and DVD, but we’d expect a listing to appear soon.
Shout! Factory and GKids will release the anime title The Case of Hana & Alice on Blu-ray on 9/17, directed by Shunji Iwai.
Powerhouse Films and Indicator will release a Marlene Dietrich & Josef von Sternberg at Paramount 1930-1935 Blu-ray box set on August 19th. The set will include Morocco (1930), Dishonored (1931), Shanghai Express (1932), Blonde Venus (1932), The Scarlet Empress (1934), and The Devil is a Woman (1935). Also coming that day is The Missionary (1982) starring Michael Palin. This follows their July 29th release of the Bloody Terror: The Shocking Cinema of Norman J Warren, 1976-1987 Blu-ray box set, which will include Satan’s Slave (1976), Prey (1977), Terror (1978), Inseminoid (1981), and Bloody New Year (1987).
Twilight Time’s upcoming Blu-ray release slate includes Hello, Frisco, Hello (1943), Hussy (1980), Mother Wore Tights (1947), and Pin up Girl (1944) on 6/18, Behold a Pale Horse (1964), The Chairman (1969), The President’s Lady (1953), and Ten North Frederick (1958) on 7/16, The Tall Men (1955), Whirlpool (1949), and Wild in the Country (1961) on 8/20.
Our friends at Kino Lorber Studio Classics have just revealed that they’re working on new Blu-ray and/or DVD releases of Endless Night (1972) and Alistair MacLean’s The Secret Ways (1961). Street dates are TBA.
Synapse Films has Sergio Garrone’s Django the Bastard coming to Blu-ray and DVD on 8/13.
And for 1970s psychotronic and sexploitation fans, Hen’s Tooth Video is releasing Howard Ziehm’s Flesh Gordon on Blu-ray on 8/27.
