Look for updates of Jules Dassin’s Brute Force (Spine #383 – Blu-ray and DVD) and The Naked City (Spine #380 – Blu-ray and DVD) on 9/8, followed by Claire Denis’ Beau travail (Spine #1042 – Blu-ray and DVD) on 9/15, Francesco Rosi’s Christ Stopped at Eboli (Spine #1043 – Blu-ray and DVD) on 9/22, and David Lynch’s The Elephant Man (Spine #1051 – Blu-ray and DVD) and Martin Scorsese’s World Cinema Project No. 3 (Spine #1044 – Blu-ray/DVD Combo – includes the films Pixote, Lucía, After the Curfew, Downpour, Soleil Ô, and Dos monjes) on 9/29.
We’ve updated the relevant Criterion Spines Project pages here at The Bits with these titles accordingly. More details are available here at the Criterion website.
Also. Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has finally set Outlander: Season Five for Blu-ray and DVD release on 9/15.
And here’s a look at the cover artwork (click to pre-order them on Amazon – Criterion links will be added soon, the others are now available)...
Finally today, be aware that Star Wars: The Last Jedi 4K and Solo: A Star Wars Story 4K are starting to show up at retail with the new slipcovers that match the other recent Star Wars films in 4K (specifically, they have been spotted in the wild at Target and Walmart stores). However, readers are reporting that both are still the same 4K discs as originally released, just with the new slipcover. Solo may always be the same disc as before, but fans will know that the version of The Last Jedi 4K included in the new Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is a newly re-authored version. However, it seems likely that Disney means to sell through all of their existing stock of the first version before including the new one in the single-film package. Just be aware that it’s a possibility. And if you DO find the new version separately, please let us know.
That’s all for now. Stay tuned...
