Kino Lorber Studio Classics has announced that Philip Kaufman’s Twisted (2004) is coming to Blu-ray on 7/30. Also newly-revealed as “coming soon” are Allan Dwan’s Sands of Iwo Jima (1949) and Hal Ashby’s live concert film with The Rolling Stones, Let’s Spend the Night Together (1982), on Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD, as well as William Dieterle’s Red Mountain (1951) on Blu-ray only.
Lionsgate has set Moritz Mohr’s Boy Kills World (2024) for Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD release on 7/9. Look for the 4K to include HDR10 high dynamic range.
Imprint Films has unveiled its August slate of Blu-ray titles, all of which are due on 8/28, including Alvin Rakoff’s Crossplot (1969), Ron Winston’s Banning (1967), Jean Negulesco’s Jessica (1962), Richard Quine’s Synanon (1965), Basil Dearden’s Woman of Straw (1864), and Franco Zeffirelli’s The Taming of the Shrew (1967).
Paramount is now taking pre-orders on the future TBA Blu-ray and 4K release of John Krasinski’s If (2024).
Also now available for Blu-ray and 4K UHD pre-order (but as yet officially unannounced) is George Miller’s Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga (2024) from Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment. Coming the same date (TBA) from the studio is a new Mad Max: 5-Film 4K Collection.
While we’re talking Warner, retail sources tell us that the studio is also preparing to release Mel Brooks’ Blazing Saddles (1974) in 4K Ultra HD in the coming months. A Limited Edition UK 4K Steelbook is currently listed on Diabolik DVD here.

Switching now to music release news, Rhino has just shipped 8 new Blu-ray Audio album re-issue titles featuring Dolby Atmos mixes, including Alanis Morisette’s Jagged Little Pill (1995), The Doors’ The Best of The Doors (1985), Fleetwood Mac’s Rumours (1977), Hootie and the Blowfish’s Cracked Rear View (1994), and the Joni Mitchell’s The Asylum Years box set, which includes the albums For the Roses (1972), Court and Spark (1974), Miles of Aisles (1974), and The Hissing of Summer Lawns (1975). And here’s something that has me personally very excited: A&M and Interscope are releasing a 6 CD Super-Deluxe Limited Edition box set celebrating The Police’s final studio album, Synchronicity (1983), on 7/26! The contents are as follows:
- CD 1 – The Police: Synchronicity (Remastered) – 11 tracks
- CD 2 – B-Sides & Bonus Tracks – 18 tracks
- CD 3 – Unreleased: Part 1 (Demos, Outtakes & Alternate Mixes) – 17 tracks
- CD 4 – Unreleased: Part 2 (Additional Demos, Outtakes & Alternate Mixes) – 19 tracks
- CD 5 – Live: Part 1 (Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum – Oakland, CA – 9/10/83) – 10 tracks
- CD 6 – Live: Part 2 (Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum – Oakland, CA – 9/10/83) – 9 tracks
All have been remastered at Abbey Road Studios directly from the original source tapes, featuring bonus material compiled with the band’s involvement and approval. The package also includes a 64-page book with new liner notes, interviews, and rare/unseen photos, as well as 4 art prints and a hardback slipcase. Here’s what it looks like (click on the image to pre-order it on Amazon.com)...
Also coming that day are a basic 2 CD version of the box, a 4 LP set, a Digital Download version, and a 1 LP Picture Disc featuring a Synchronicity “Alternate Sequence” version. Unfortunately, no lossless audio versions will be available in Atmos or Blu-ray Audio. But still, as a Police fan, that 6 CD set is incredibly attractive, at least in my book! You can read more here via our friend Matt Rowe’s MusicTap website as well as here from Super Deluxe Edition.
We’ll leave you with a look at the cover artwork for several of the titles mentioned above. Amazon pre-order links for each are included if available...
Stay tuned!
