We’ve also learned that Universal will be releasing the Foo Fighters’ recent rock comedy/horror film Studio 666 on Blu-ray and DVD. We don’t yet have a street date, but you can see the Blu-ray cover artwork above left. Of course, the release is bittersweet for fans, as the Foo Fighters’ longtime drummer, Taylor Hawkins, passed away last month while the band was on tour in South America.

Also this afternoon, The Film Detective has announced a new special edition Blu-ray and DVD release of Antonio Margheriti’s Italian sci-fi film Battle of the Worlds (1961 – aka The Planet of Extinct Men) for release on 8/9. The film has been restored from “a rare original 35 mm archival print.” You can see the cover art below.

Kino Lorber Studio Classics has set Robert Boris’ Steele Justice (1987) for Blu-ray release on 7/12, followed by Delbert Mann’s Marty (1955) and double feature Blu-rays of Gordon Douglas’s They Call Me Mister Tibbs! (1970) and Don Medford’s The Organization (1971), as well as Richard Donner’s Salt and Pepper (1968) and Jerry Lewis’ One More Time (1970) on 7/19, with Night Gallery: Season 2 (1971-1972) following on 7/26.

And Michael Camino’s Desperate Hours is finally available for pre-order on Amazon as a new Blu-ray addition to the MVD Rewind Collection on 7/19. You can see the artwork below.
