Okay, we’ve got just a couple things for you this afternoon...

First, Dennis has offered his thoughts on Michael Curtiz’s 1932 pre-Code horror film Doctor X, staring Fay Wray. It’s now available on Blu-ray from the Warner Archive Collection and you can see what Dennis has to say about the title here. Sounds like the actual disc quality is excellent.

In release news today, Amazon.de is now showing Zack Snyder’s Justice League coming to 4K in Germany on 5/27 (pre-order it here). There’s also a 4K Steelbook following in Germany on 7/8. Meanwhile, the dates for this title in France are currently listed as 6/9 for both the regular 4K release and the Steelbook 4K version. US retailers have yet to list the title, but our most recent information is that the studio will drop it on or about 5/25. We’ll certainly post updates as we have more information. [Read on here...]

Speaking of 4K, it appears that the street date for Sony’s announced 4K Ultra HD release of Guy Ritchie’s Snatch has moved to 7/13 (from the originally announced date of 6/1). Adjust your plans accordingly.

On the Blu-ray front, Paramount has just officially announced the release of 48 Hours and Another 48 Hours on 7/6 as part of their Paramount Presents line. Both films have been newly remastered from 4K film scans and each will include new Filmmaker Focus featurettes with director Walter Hill. Each will also include the theatrical trailer, and the original will also include the 1966 Space Kid animated short (which appears in the film). You can see the cover artwork above left and also below.

Powerhouse Films and Indicator have set their July UK Blu-ray release slate (street date 7/19), which will include Mike Nichols’ The Day of the Dolphin (1973), Werner Herzog’s Invincible (2001), Elaine May’s Ishtar (1987), and Jeremy Paul Kagan’s The Big Fix (1978).

RLJE Films will release Spare Parts on Blu-ray and DVD on 6/1.

Epic Pictures will release The Maid on Blu-ray on 8/10.

Scorpion Releasing (via Kino Lorber) will release Larry Peerce’s One Potato, Two Potato on Blu-ray on 6/15, with Brian Hannant’s The Time Guardian (1987) following on 7/20.
