A very merry “Fool’s Day” to you all! Hope you’re enjoying the usual hilarity. We’ve only got real news for you here this afternoon, so let’s get right to it.

First though, our own Todd Doogan has turned in a newly-revised installment of his weekly Doogan’s Queue column running down his picks for the best of the new Blu-ray and DVD titles available in stores TODAY. It’s a good read, so do check it out.

Also today, the good Dr. Jahnke has his latest installment of Burnt Offerings: MOD DVD for you covering the latest in small-batch, “hand-crafted,” aged-in-oak Manufactured on Demand titles from the likes of the Warner Archive, 20th Century Fox Cinema Archives and the Sony Pictures Choice Collection. Do partake liberally. [Read on here...]

In announcement news today, Anchor Bay Entertainment has revealed that The Walking Dead: Season Four will arrive on Blu-ray and DVD on 8/26, and in fact you can already pre-order the title on Amazon.com. This is much earlier than the usual home video release for this series, so good news for fans indeed! And for über fans, look for a limited edition “Tree Walker” Blu-ray version with packaging created by MacFarlane Toys.

Meanwhile, Warner Home Video has announced a 6-film Grace Kelly Collection for release on DVD on 7/29 (SRP $34.96). The set will include the films Mogambo, Dial M for Murder, The Country Girl, The Bridges at Toko-Ri, To Catch a Thief, and High Society, as well as Kelly’s last TV interview with Pierre Salinger.

Okay – I lied. We DO have one April Fool’s Joke for you, from our friends at Paramount, who claim to be releasing yet another cut of Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues on digital only – The “No Joke” Cut. From the press release:

“The new version of the film, titled ANCHORMAN 2: THE LEGEND CONTINUES: NO JOKE CUT, will feature no jokes at all, and will instead focus on the drama surrounding the rise of the first 24-hour news channel.  The release follows the successful February 28th theatrical release of ANCHORMAN 2: THE LEGEND CONTINUES: SUPER-SIZED R-RATED VERSION, which featured 763 entirely new jokes.

“Comedies often fail to get the consideration they deserve because laughter masks the serious storytelling going on beneath the surface,” said producer Judd Apatow.  “This new cut illustrates that Anchorman 2 can hold its weight against any drama.”

“People know that Will and I do many joke options for our movies, but I think what gets lost is the fact that underneath the laughs there’s a very powerful drama at work,” said writer/ director Adam McKay.  “Movies like Sophie’s Choice, Ordinary People and Breaking the Waves are the movies that inspire Will and me.  I’m just glad, with the no joke cut, audiences can finally appreciate the rawness and drama of Anchorman 2.”

LOL. Yeah. Anyway, here’s the trailer...

So there you go. We’ll leave you this afternoon with a look at the temp art for Anchor Bay’s The Walking Dead: Season Four, as well as Fox’s American Horror Story: Season Three – Coven (TBA), and MGM’s The Birdcage (due 6/3)...
