We’re rounding out the week here at The Bits with a little bit more announcement news today, but first a couple more reviews...

Tim offered his thoughts on Travis Knight’s Kubo and the Two Strings in 4K Ultra HD from Laika via Shout! Factory—both the regular Amaray version as well as the Steelbook packaging.

Pressing on to this afternoon’s release news, Kino Lorber Studio Classics has just revealed that they’re bringing Charles Laughton’s classic noir thriller The Night of the Hunter (1955) to 4K Ultra HD on 5/30, complete with a new scan and Dolby Vision HDR grade.

Also newly revealed as coming to Blu-ray from KLSC are Dave Thomas’ The Experts (1989) on 5/9 and Robert Aldrich’s Hustle (1975) on 5/16.

In addition, they’re working on “coming soon” Blu-ray releases of René Clément’s The Day and the Hour (1963)—this one mastered from a new 4K restoration by Gaumont—as well as Stephen Norrington’s Death Machine (1994). [Read on here...]

Universal has officially set M. Night Shyamalan’s Knock at the Cabin for release on Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD on 5/9.

Universal is also releasing a 4K Ultra HD box set of The Mummy Trilogy (The Mummy, The Mummy Returns, and The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor) on 6/6. These should be the same 4K discs released previously in 2017, just repackaged.

If Target is to be believed, Paramount is releasing The Nutty Professor (1963) on 4K Ultra HD on 5/30. This does make a certain amount of sense, as 2023 marks the film’s 60th anniversary.

And our friends at Via Vision have just announced their June slate of Imprint Films Blu-ray titles, which is set to include Roger Donaldson’s The Bounty (1984), Peter Chan’s Leap (2020), Giuseppe Tornatore’s Malèna (2000), Zhang Yi-Mou’s Not One Less (1999), Louis Malle’s Damage (1992), and Paweł Pawlikowski’s My Summer of Love (2004). The street date for all is on or around 6/28. You can purchase them directly from Imprint’s online shop here.

Finally, for those of you watching Star Trek: Picard – Season Three, my old friend Robert Meyer Burnett and I discussed the latest episode (and more) at length on last night’s installment of The Kurlan Naiskos: A Picard After Show on YouTube, which you can watch below if you’re so inclined. Enjoy!

We’ll leave you today with a look at the cover artwork the remaining Criterion Collection June titles, along with Insidious 4K, and the newly-announced Powerhouse Films/Indicator 4K titles, all with Amazon.com pre-order links if available...

Insidious (4K Ultra HD) Medicine for Melancholy (Criterion Blu-ray Disc) Servant (Criterion Blu-ray Disc)

Black Magic Rites (4K Ultra HD) Cold Eyes of Fear (4K Ultra HD) Cliffhanger (Steelbook 4K Ultra HD)

Have a great weekend! Stay tuned...
