We’ve got more new disc reviews for you to enjoy today, including a couple that we posted over the weekend...

First up, Tim and Dennis have taken a look at Billy Wilder’s Some Like It Hot (1959) in 4K Ultra HD from Kino Lorber Studio Classics.

I’ve also posted my thoughts on Steven Spielberg’s new West Side Story on 4K Ultra HD from 20th Century Studios.

And Tim has offered his thoughts on Philip Marshak’s Dracula Sucks (1978) in 4K Ultra HD as well, an infamous adult genre title available from Vinegar Syndrome.

Finally, Dennis has posted his take on Ridley Scott’s House of Gucci on regular Blu-ray too.

More new disc reviews are on the way soon, so be sure to check back for them in the coming days, including my in-depth look at Paramount’s The Godfather Trilogy in 4K. I had the chance to watch the films over the weekend, and let me tell you: They’ve simply never looked better. The new 2020 restoration is a night and day improvement upon the already fine 2007 restoration that was released previously on Blu-ray, so you’re definitely not going to want to miss this new set. We don’t have a ton of announcement news today, however Paramount has just posted a number of new 4K Ultra HD titles for pre-order on Amazon, including The Untouchables in regular packaging and also Steelbook on 5/31, and a new Raiders of the Lost Ark 4K Steelbook release that uses the film’s original poster artwork on 6/14. You can see the cover artwork above left and also below. [Editor’s Note: The Untouchables is now official and will include Dolby Vision HDR, Dolby Atmos audio, and the legacy special features.]

They also have 4K singles of The Sum of All Fears and Patriot Games coming on 5/24, presumably the same discs as before just re-issued.

And Lionsgate had just set Moonfall for Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD release on 4/26 on Amazon, so presumably the official announcement is forthcoming.

Also today as expected, Mercury Studios has officially announced that The Police: Around the World Restored & Expanded will be released on 5/20 in DVD+CD, Blu-ray+CD, and DVD+LP configurations. The 1982 documentary, which has been restored via a new 4K scan of the original 16 mm camera negative, documents the band’s 1979/1980 world tour. The film has previously only been available on VHS and LaserDisc. The Blu-ray and DVD feature the following tracks: Next to You, Walking on the Moon, Born in the 50s, So Lonely, Man in a Suitcase, Can’t Stand Losing You, Bring on the Night, Canary in a Coalmine, Voices Inside My Head, When the World Is Running Down, You Make the Best of What’s Still Around, Shadows in the Rain, Don’t Stand So Close to Me, Truth Hits Everybody, and Roxanne. Bonus features include live performances of Walking on the Moon and Next to You (Live from Kyoto), and Message in a Bottle and Born in the 50s (Live from Hong Kong). Note that the Blu-ray will be coded for regions A, B & C and will feature DTS-HD MA audio. You can see the cover art below (and if you click on the art it is available for pre-order now on Amazon)...

Also today, our friends over at Media Play News have just kicked off the voting in their annual Home Entertainment Media Play Awards, which you can now participate in via this link on their website. Voting is open from today until 4/1. As always, I’ll be serving as a judge for the awards—the winners will be announced after the voting is finished. Be sure to get your picks in!

Finally this afternoon, we need to take a moment to acknowledge the passing of actor William Hurt, star of Body Heat, The Big Chill, Kiss of the Spider Woman, Frank Herbert’s Dune, Broadcast News, and so many other great films and TV projects. Hurt sadly died on Sunday due to complications of prostate cancer. He was 71. You can read more about him here and here.

We’ll leave you with a look at the cover artwork for a few of the titles mentioned above and more, with Amazon pre-order links if available...
