Some of you may know Stuart from his excellent film essays and audio commentaries, which have appeared on a number of DVD, Blu-ray, and 4K tiles over the years, including Imprint’s Dersu Uzala, Arrow Video’s Battles without Honor and Humanity, and Criterion’s Seven Samurai.
Still others will be familiar with him from his many years of review work with the excellent DVD Talk website.
But now, the winds of change have carried Stuart to The Digital Bits, and we’re very glad to have him joining the team.
Stuart lives in Kyoto, Japan with his wife, Yukiyo, and their daughter, Sadie. You can read his full bio here in our Meet the Staff section on The Bits.
We’re kicking off his debut here at the site with a pair of reviews, including his take on Stuart Walker’s White Woman (1933) and François Truffaut’s The Bride Wore Black (1968), both new on Blu-ray from Kino Lorber Studio Classics!
Going forward, we’ll try to have one or two new reviews a week from Stuart, along with the contributions of our other excellent staff reviewers.
So from all of us here at The Bits, welcome Stuart!
We’ll be back later this morning with our usual release news update.
Stay tuned…
