Afternoon, all. We’ve got a couple interesting items for you today...

First, Tim has posted a new review of Powerhouse Films and Indicator’s outstanding William Castle at Columbia: Volume Two Blu-ray box set, which streeted late last month and includes Zotz!, The Old Dark House, 13 Frightened Girls!, and Strait-Jacket. Do check it out and if you haven’t seen these films, they’re a hoot.

Also today, we have a new History, Legacy & Showmanship column from our own Michael Coate featuring a look back at the James Bond film Quantum of Solace in honor of its 10th anniversary. The column features another terrific roundtable discussion, this time with historians Robert A. Caplen, John Cork, and Lisa Funnell. Enjoy!

And we’ve also posted the weekly update of the Release Dates & Artwork section with all the latest Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD cover artwork and Amazon.com pre-order links. As always, whenever you order literally anything from Amazon after clicking through one of our links, you’re helping to support our work here at The Bits and we greatly appreciate it. We’ve a couple of interesting release news items to report today as well...

Universal Studios Home Entertainment has moved the Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD release of Green Book to 3/12, with the Digital release expected on 2/19. The physical release had previously been set for 3/5, so this is a one week delay. Adjust your plans accordingly.

Sony may be releasing not just the original Hellboy but also Hellboy II: The Golden Army in March or April. Best Buy is currently showing Hellboy due on 3/5, but a Hellboy Double Feature on 4/2. [Editor’s Note: A quick correction to today’s post… the Hellboy Double Feature 4K turns out to be the animated Hellboy: Sword of Storms and Hellboy: Blood & Iron from Lionsgate. Adjust your plans accordingly.]

And those of you in the UK looking to pick up Studio Canal’s recent John Carpenter 4K Ultra HD titles (including The Fog, Escape from New York, Prince of Darkness, and They Live) will be pleased to know that standard editions of each will be available on physical 4K on 3/18. They’ve been available since late November in elaborate limited editions with swag and soundtrack CDs, but those are either out of print or rapidly heading that way.

Also, at least in the UK (and possibly here in the States too), we have word that Man on a Ledge is coming to physical 4K. We’ll post details as they come in.

For those who have been waiting, Terry Gilliam’s The Man Who Killed Don Quixote is coming to Blu-ray and DVD on 2/7 in Germany and France. But it’s been picked up for distribution in the US by Screen Media Films, with a planned theatrical release in March (and no doubt a US Blu-ray and DVD release later in the year).

Meanwhile, Shout! Factory has just set This Gun for Hire (1942) as a Shout Select Blu-ray release on 5/14.

Kino Lorber Studio Classics has revealed that Don Siegel’s Madigan (1968) is coming soon to Blu-ray, along with Grace Quigley, Agatha Christie’s Ordeal by Innocence, and Phobia.

Warner Archive is releasing Blake Edward’s Wild Rovers (1971) on Blu-ray soon.

And last but absolutely not least, Second Sight has officially announced that new Blu-ray releases of George Romero’s original Dawn of the Dead and Martin are coming in the UK, following a new distribution deal with producer Richard P. Rubinstein. These will be full special editions and we suspect they’ll be newly-remastered from the best available film elements. Look for them both later in 2019.

That’s all for today. Stay tuned...!
