Just a quick update of previous announcements by Twilight… look for Paul Mazursky’s Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice (1969), Joseph L. Mankiewicz’s Dragonwyck (1946), Woody Allen’s Husbands and Wives (1992), and Henry Koster’s My Cousin Rachel (1952) on 1/29, Paul Newman’s The Effect of Gamma Rays on Man-in-the-Moon Marigolds (1972), Larry Peerce’s The Incident (1967), Mark Rydell’s Harry and Walter Go to New York (1976), and Woody Allen’s Manhattan Murder Mystery (1993), and Samuel Fuller’s Underworld USA (1961), Richard Fleischer’s The New Centurions (1972), Roy Ward Baker’s Don’t Bother to Knock (1952), and Philip D’Antoni’s The Seven-Ups (1973) on 3/20.
Kino Lorber has announced the 3/20 Blu-ray and DVD release of William Wellman’s Stingaree (1934) as part of their Studio Classics line.
Well Go USA has set Yucihi Fukuda’s Gintama for release on Blu-ray and DVD on 3/6. This is a live-action film based on a popular manga.
And we still haven’t got an official Star Wars: The Last Jedi home video announcement yet from Disney and Lucasfilm, though one is expected anytime now. But we do know, from retail postings, that in addition to the regular Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K editions, Target will have an exclusive Blu-ray/DVD Combo packaged with a 40-page gallery book and Best Buy will have exclusive Blu-ray and 4K Combos in Steelbook packaging. We see no evidence yet of a US Blu-ray 3D release, though it appears the UK will get one. But we’ll have to wait for the official announcement to be sure.
In other news today, the Oscar nominations were announced this morning in Hollywood. For the record, the Best Picture nominees include Call Me by Your Name, Darkest Hour, Dunkirk, Get Out, Lady Bird, Phantom Thread, The Post, The Shape of Water, and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, while the Best Director nominees include Christopher Nolan, Jordan Peele, Greta Gerwig, Paul Thomas Anderson, and Guillermo del Toro.
