We’ve got some good news today for those of you who are fans of The Beatles. But first one more new disc review...

Tim has just posted an in-depth look at ClassicFlix’s new Blu-ray release of The Abbott and Costello Show: Season 1, a 3-disc set that includes all 26 episodes fully restored from the original camera negatives by our old friend Bob Furmanek and his restoration team at 3-D Film Archive.

Plus, the set includes a remarkable batch of extras, including many new audio commentary tracks, alternate audio tracks (full or partial audience laugh tracks), and a featurette on the process of saving the negatives and restoring the image and sound. Do give it a look.

Now then, Disney has officially confirmed that they plan to release the 3-part The Beatles: Get Back documentary on Blu-ray and DVD on 2/8. [Read on here...]

The Blu-ray Disc SKU will be a 3-disc set that includes one episode per disc. Sound for the program will be Dolby Atmos, as can be heard on Disney+. We don’t know for sure whether there will be special features or not, but the package will apparently feature “8 hours of content” which would seem to indicate that only the documentary itself will be included (as it’s 486 minutes long). The packaging will apparently include a set of collector’s cards featuring photos of the band members.

The set is already available for pre-order on Zavvi US (here) and Zavvi UK (here), and we expect it to go up for pre-order on many other retailers in the next few weeks. Meanwhile, here’s a look at the temp cover art and the open packaging Zavvi has available (note that it may not be final)...

The Beatles: Get Back (Zavvi Blu-ray Disc)

All of this dropped yesterday in an announcement by Disney and IMAX that The Beatles: Get Back – The Rooftop Concert will be shown in IMAX theaters as a special event with filmmaker Q&A on 1/30, followed by a global theatrical engagement from 2/11 to 2/13.

Also today, one more quick note: Random Space Media in Australia is taking pre-orders for a Blu-ray 3D release of Hotel Transylvania 3. We don’t have a street date, but as far as we know, the 3D version is available on disc nowhere else. Here’s the link to their online store. Thanks to Bits reader Steve L. for the heads-up!

That’s all for now. Stay tuned...
